Just stumbled upon this thread. Sub'd for some ideas, as I'm working through my own build.

I've been MIA for a bit, but getting ready to come back for round two! I had bought a FWC Swift, which I'm going to be selling soon, so I'm downgrading back to my RTT (which I never sold or got rid of). As such, I'm considering making a version 2 of this kitchen to address some of the issues I uncovered with the previous model: Mainly the weight, better weather-proofing, and better access to the plumbing aspects. I'll likely start a new thread on that when I'm ready to begin. I'll come back here and post a link to it once I do.

I think cut away’s and or perforation would help. Or using cabinet framing and thinner plywood where possible. Most of these seem to be overbuilt with large areas of 3/4 ply. Sheet metal can both save weight and increase storage with drawer slides riveted instead of screwed.

Yeah, even 1/2" plywood seemed overkill. I think for this iteration, I'm going to use aluminum extrusions and some thin panels. I haven't researched materials just yet, but I saw https://pullkitchen.com/products on YouTube and thought I could build something similar. (Holy cow, I just saw the price tag on it!) I'm going to cannibalize a lot of the parts from the v1 kitchen (water tank, pump, faucet, slides, etc) but want to remove all wooden components and move towards a more non-DIY look and feel. :D

Also, I'm selling my Partner Steel cooktop with my FWC so I'll be downgrading that to a single burner, dual fuel camping stove as well. This should free up a ton of storage (one whole burner less, plus dumping the 20# propane tank for the green canisters).

You can use that tank to refill the canisters.

Thanks to everyone in this thread for the ideas. I thought I'd post my build to give ideas to future builders as well:

I like it, especially the folding sink that utilizes the space behind the wheel well. How difficult is it to refill the water canister? Can it be done via the sink faucet(pump in reverse) or do you have to pull the empty/fill/replace it?

The tank is just held in with a tie-down strap, it's pretty easy to pull out and swap with a full tank. They are those 7 gallon aquatainer tanks you can get at dick's sporting goods.

It just looks like an awkward reach with 55lb you can’t use your legs on but if it works for you,

Yeah it's really not too bad, with a camper shell I'm always having to climb into the back for everything else anyway.

Though I do have one question regarding this faucet/water pump combo; is the pump always supposed to be loud? Whenever the faucet is on the pump is pretty loud, I wasn't sure if that was normal for this pump or if I've got something wrong with my setup-

How did you install the slides in the Building the Base image? They look like they are resting on a metal plate of some kind which is drilled into the wood. Currently have mine screwed into 2x4s which end up eating space

I am designing something similar. Your sink idea is genius.
