Did the Great Wizard OZ agree with me? That is a first I think, other than construction topics of course.

    Lets do dis.

And Covenant definitely comes after Prometheus.

David is put back together on this Planet and it's suspected he was tinkering with the Black Goo to produce aliens. (For what purpose? Who knows.) Shaw is probably dead, Ridley might be nice and claim old age took her, but again, who knows.

Grew up with the movies, got into the games on PC and xbox...even as bad as the reviews were for them, I still enjoyed them. Own a lot of the novels, but haven't read all of them yet. I haven't read hardly any of the comics. <--my knowledge resume.

And forgive me but it has been awhile since I have seen any of the movies as much as I do like them.
I consider them straight horror and not science fiction, mainly because its one of the movies that really terrified me as a kid, and still do to an extent. But could not look away.

SO, I recall in the first Alien, the said the crashed ship appeared fossilized and had been there for centuries (or a thousand years not really sure). The base in Prometheus had not been there as long.
I think that the ship that crashed on LV-426 was the only supply of Xenomorph eggs. Where they originated from and how the Space Jockey got them unknown, but that particular Jockey crashed where he did. Or he was infected with the Queen who when hatched laid all the eggs, but that doesn't explain the blue mist that covered them, so I lean more towards that was the Jockey's supply.

When this ship was lost, the Jockeys / Engineers lost their supply of eggs used as weapons. Then began their efforts to create something similar with as much devastating effect. Enter the black goo. Also why there is a mural of a Xenomorph in the vase chamber in Prometheus. Kinda like this is our goal, and this is what we came up with. Not quite the same, but it works.
Well like all horror movies, the stuff gets loose and the terrified engineers run around and die, except the one who was already in cryosleep.
Fast forward to the end of the movie, last engineer is impregnated by a black goo squid (which is similar to a giant face hugger) and a black goo made false xenomorph (I think they called it deacon) bursts from his chest. Kinda like the last message was, Here you were trying to recreate the xenomorph, well now you have succeeded.

Anxious to see the new movie, I don't have much idea what its going to be about yet, but glad to see the real Xenomorphs are back for it.

Also I think now Alien 3 and Resurrection have been retconned? or maybe I just read thats what everyone want to happen? Anyway, I can't stand that, these movie makers make something, then years later say they don't like it anymore and they want a different sequel (Don't get me started on Star Wars Expanded Universe).
The AVP games, as crappy as some of them are, do fit into the storyline. As do the books and comics. I guess what I'm trying to say is I take them all in and consider them canon, sure some of them don't all match up exactly, but nothing ever does. Some entertain me, some don't, but I just don't like the idea of later down the road someone doesn't like it so its no longer canon and doesn't exist.

There was a 20 minute trailer released at SXSW this week. It hits on this pretty hard albeit w/ a twist.

Thats pretty neat; I'm hyped up this is my favorite horror series of all time so I hope they do it right. I'd like to see the 20 minute preview but I also don't want to spoil the movie either. Been watching a lot of theories on the subject on youtube lately

In case anyone missed this one released yesterday, lots of analysis already about Shaw's role.

I think most are in agreement (not so much that it sucked) that it left more questions than answers.
Here's hoping this one hits on all cylinders.

Saw Alien Covenant last night. Too much dialogue and not enough Aliens. I HATE hate hate how they tried to explain the origin. I do not accept this explanation. It just does not fit with everything we know so far...everything from previous films.

Finally saw it couple nights ago. I agree Scribbles. I don't even know what R.S. was trying to do here. Really, I can even forgive not having it line up to Alien if another movie is planned but this wasn't even close to horror. Hell, it didn't even feel dramatic. Nice looking, yea, expected that but for the first time I felt let down she managed to kill the last one that hitched a ride on the departing ship. (Tired of the fat lady singing that song also.)
Doubt I'll ever feel as hyped to see another of the franchise again. At least I was around for I and II as they came out.
