Proper fluids for Aging 2.7L

Hello all,

Trying to sort which fluids to use in my 06, 2wd Base (manual) ~290k

engine oil (5.8L w/ filter change):
Currently using 5W-30,
Haynes manual tells me to use 0W-20? Large difference?

Transmission (Manual - 2.7L):
API GL-4?
API GL-5

$28 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90?

Transfer case (1L)
API GL-5 SAE 75W-90


Rear diff (3.31L)
Haynes recommends
API GL-5 SAE 90W Gear oil or
API GL-5 SAE 80W-90 (when below -18*C which possible where I live in Canada)

Coolant (8.7L):
Toyota super long life coolant

What are people using?

 

In my 2006 4.0L 225,000 miles, I have always used 0/20 for the past five years
I live up in New England and my truck seems to run fine with that no issues at all

And I use fully synthetic in all of the drive train and use the weight that Toyota recommends

 

I have a 2006 2.7 base 2wd with 170k miles, northern California. Always used 5w30 engine oil (synthetic since 120k), pink SLLC coolant, T-IV auto trans fluid and 75w90 synthetic differential oil (open diff). Runs and drives perfect.
I would not run 0w20 if I were you. Maybe if the engine was fresher and you were seeing ambient temps of -15C or lower, but just maybe. Otherwise stick to 5w30.
Can't comment on the MT fluid or T-case fluid.
I would use 75w90 or 80w90 gear oil in the rear diff.
Yes Toyota SLLC pink coolant every 50k, it's good stuff.

 

The specs are all in the owners manual for what's recommended or required.
I run 5W-30.

75W-90 GL-5 is ok in the trans, xfer and diffs; GL-5 is required for the diffs.
I flushed the coolant in mine and replaced with Prestone green. There is nothing special in a Toyota cooling system where you need to use their pink coolant.

 

I would only use the Toyota SLL HOAT coolant or if you want to spend less use the Zerex Asian SLL HOAT coolant.
