I had to adapt and now just drink my beer while driving down the road.

That’s sarcasm in case it’s not clear.

What's going to happen when you Ford that river at 36" and the cabin floods to the armrests?

If your doing that then a wet compressor is the least of your worries...

I have the same setup as @tacomarin , who also did a nice write-up on the M.O.R.E. compressor mount over here.:cheers:

Would the armrests somehow be below the level that compressor is mounted to under the hood or in the bed?

I've actually cross streams in a Gen 1 where the water came in the side windows - compressor was the least of our worries. (we didn't have one but even if we did...)

I saw this mount and gave it a quick glance but as soon as I read the MORE description in the link it said it was not available for trucks with CA emissions package. Looking into the comments on that write up, it seems like it’s working on CA trucks ‍♂️. This is definitely a route I want to go if it fits my truck.

FWIW, I don't think it's about CA emissions (M.O.R.E. has it wrong), but more about the brake setup. You should be good as long as that area doesn't have the standard ABS brake module. TRD Pro and Off-Road have the booster with the ABS module located on the Driver's side (the combination abs pump/master cylinder/brake booster is used for the crawl control feature).

That area should look like this:

Exactly what mine looks like (TRD OR). Awesome, thanks for the clarification.

I was wondering that, and poking around their site. I've never heard of a CA compliant specific tacoma so it makes more sense that they were just confused.

I threw mine under the hood utilizing the second Gen SLEE mount by the power steering reservoir.
Heat was a concern, but realized by the time the compressor has done its job on my 35s, I’ll be on the highway within minutes and that the airflow will help cool it down.
I didn’t run it to the bed for same reasons OP mentioned.
thought about the grille mount but didn’t want airflow interference to the radiator.

i also ran my hardline to my front bumper. Easy access and I don’t have to pop my hood just to use the chuck to fill air on the trail

Running it to the bumper seems like the way to go. If I run a hose to bed for a water tank, I figure I will put another chuck back there too

The heat ended up being a problem for my airlines. I routed one to the back of the truck, but it melted because it was too close to the exhaust pipe. :bananadead:

More on my setup over here and here (< worth taking a look)

One thing to think about is if you leave the chuck under the hood, you have to open the hood to access it and thus allow some of the heat to escape while you're just sitting there idling.

This stuff is awesome for protecting the air line from heat when dropping down the engine bay into the frame (because you're near the cats).

The ARB Twin is rated to run at 240 degrees. This isn't the issue you think it is. I don't know what compressor you had thermal shutoff issues with but it shouldn't be the ARB Twin.
