EDIT: Toytec is an aftermarket lift supplier, not a full service suspension shop. I'm sure they are fully capable of working on newer vehicles but when it comes to older trucks, they outsource some of the work that might be necessary in order to fully complete your lift. Sorry for bad mouthing them as a company.

Since when did suspension installs on 20 year old vehicles become plug and play?

I would never plan a trip and a suspension install in the same trip. New truck or old truck if anything happens you are screwed.

Most diff drop kits include thick washers to space out the skid plate from the differential mounts....it's pretty standard, if their's doesn't come with these washers you can get them at Home Depot or any hardware store. You just put one on each skid plate bolt so that it moves downward same as the diff drop did.

Did they say why they couldn't do the rear brake line? That's the easiest of all the things you mentioned you were having done...takes like 10 minutes. Weird.

I devoted a day to nothing but getting work done on the truck, with a back up plan to leave it over night if necessary. It wasn't a full install, just an alignment. I know just about anything on a 20 year old truck isn't necessarily a straight forward case which is why I took it to the "TOYOTA SUSPENSION SPECIALISTS" and specifically asked for reassurance that it wouldn't be a problem getting it done in a day. You don't think that might've been a good time for them to mention they can't handle seized parts?

It did come with spacers for the skids and I tried to install according to instructions but it still didn't give me enough clearance to clear the diff. I tried adding some washers too but the holes still didn't line up right. Not getting the skids on was disappointing but I figured I'd still be okay once I got the bigger tires on there...

Toytec will chime in, but it’s due to the liability of things breaking on a 20yo truck.

That does suck I’m not surprised at the seized parts though its all too common on suspension parts even a few years old in areas with snow. I had to cut everything off of my truck and i just had the frame replaced 4 years prior

As of now my plan is to extend my vacation one day, so 4 Wheel Parts can get me in next Monday to do the alignment. They're fully aware of the situation and don't seem to think it'll be a problem finishing it in one day... should I believe them or just hold off and try to find some place local to me to do the alignment? (keeping in mind they probably won't be too familiar with lifted non-domestic trucks)

I'm not sure why you are upset... they arent a toyota service center. They are a retail company selling aftermarket parts.

I am a wee bit confused as well. I was under the impression they were going to install a lift and do an alignment, but then he said only alignment.

I originally made the appointment for an alignment. Once I got the lift installed and got a look at the brakes, I called and asked if they could install the extended brake line while I had it in for the alignment. I was told they don't do brake work because they don't have a way to dispose of the fluids?

I understand now that their main business is selling parts. Apparently they haven't been doing installs for all that long which is something I didn't know when I made the appointment, otherwise I would've gone elsewhere. Sorry if I'm shitting on people's favorite business but I feel like their "specialty" is a bit overstated.

I noticed 4 Wheel Parts advertises "we install everything we sell", I guess I kind of assumed that's the default with businessss like this but apparently not.

I think there was just a lot of assuming going on on your part, and that's ultimately what led to this happening. Some more research would have been a good idea.

I felt like I had done my research given all the positive reviews I've read about toytec. I'm here because I feel like my research led me astray.

Gotcha now. Yeah, the brake lines can be a PITA on the "well used" tacos

to many to list, check the build thread
toytec most likely doesn't even stock the LCA's / cam bolts to be able to replace your seized cam bolts anyways.

So you better be ready to pay for new LCA's and new MOOG cam bolts when you go to 4 wheel parts and they cut them off to replace them. That will be an additional charge to the alignment service and a lot of labor cost as well.

you should have just gone to the dealership if you knew there MIGHT be problems as thats the Toyota specialist you would need in that bind, they should have all parts in stock to fix the seized cam bolt issue, then do the alignment.
