Okay lots of you guys seem to think I should've known better. Fair enough, but looking forward... should I trust 4 Wheel Parts to do the alignment in one day or not? I can afford one extra day off work but two would probably start to be a problem.

Sounds like you had way more wrong than what was going to be installed. Having seized eccentric bolts, or fused tie rod ends makes it pretty much moot to install new suspension components and to do an alignment.

Toytec Lifts is not a full service mechanic shop...that's your bad for assuming. Your truck is old and has seized parts....deal with like a man, don't put A+ companies on blast for no reason.

I mean, common sense applies here. If they have to start cutting things what are they going to replace them with? They dont have a warehouse of OEM parts to replace them at their shop. You even labeled them as a "suspension specialist" and fully expected them to do brake service. You put the ass in assumption here. We will all wait for you to apologize to Toytec.

You need to know the condition of your truck before taking in for an alignment. Period.

Reading reviews is part of vetting a shop but shouldn't count as research towards which services they do and don't do :luvya:

If it's just a lift Firestone or Big O should be able to do a decent enough alignment. Lifted trucks are super common around here.

Alright so it's my fault for not being clear on what an alignment can entail on an older vehicle. I was under the impression that it was fairly straight forward for a specialty shop but apparently not.

I'm frustrated because now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to get this project done (that I thought was practically finished) while I'm on my phone sitting in a parking lot. I'm about to say fuck it, worry about the truck after my vacation, and enjoy the rest of my time in the mountains without cell service. Sorry if I've offended anyone. Mods feel free to delete this thread.

That is EXACTLY what I would do. Try and enjoy yourself and forget about the truck for now. Once you get home you will have a clear mind and you can take your sweet time with fixing the problem. It's not something you want to rush.

    Hello and good afternoon Jon,

We had you scheduled for the alignment, we did assume that your vehicle was at least at “par” level so we could do the proper alignment on your vehicle. We asked you specifically if the cams and tie rods were free to adjust since we did notice that your tires were completely bald. (meaning if your truck has ever had an alignment)

We are a fully capable shop that can do all of the repairs your truck needs, the only reason we couldn’t do it was due to the amount of time it would have taken. We had you booked for a 1 hour alignment, we have 3 other vehicles on the schedule the same day as yours.

We did however put your vehicle on the alignment rack and attempt the alignment in which we found that your inners, outers, and passenger side lower eccentrics were seized.

In the end, we did not charge you a dime for the time it took to put the truck on the rack and attempt the alignment.

Again we do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to you/ your vacation.

    Thanks

I think there's a better time to ask if there's any frozen parts than when I bring it in to drop it off. I made the appointment a month in advance specifically so you could book enough time. Isn't that part of getting an estimate, how long it's likely to take? I was told one hour, was skeptical, and was reassured that would be enough time. I don't think it's necessarily a problem with your service department but I think you need better communication with your sales guys.

BTW I tried to return your call but got no answer. I'm not trying to have a public argument but am about to lose service for the next several days.

Where are you going on vacation? Just out of curiosity. I mean if you are going to Cancun or the Bahamas the by all means fuck the truck and go! If you are planning a weekend at the in-laws then I would continue to mess around with the truck by all means

I will be spending my vacation around the sawatch range and sangre de cristos hiking 14ers. Not getting the truck done isn't the end of the world, it just means I have to rearrange my plans some and park a little farther from trailheads.
