Starting to have buyer's remorse now with this kit too. Suspension is super stiff on the road, and makes an audible "racket" when going over bumps when the windows are down.

Yes a "racket" like somewhat of a clunking noise when going over bumps, specifically when the front springs are compressed. And I've gone back over and checked all bolts for torque specs and ensured that the tire/wheel wasn't hitting anything during full articulation.

Had the lift on about 2 weeks now. Ride is definitely firm but not harsh. The stock Hitachi springs on my truck had a firm ride as well, but the truck would continue to bounce after hitting larger bumps. These Pro shocks absorb the larger impacts without being harsh. Higher impact/speed is where these shocks shine. People who are strictly on road or highway may like the stock offoroad ride better as these should have a softer ride. If I had 2-3k to spend I would go with King coilovers and get the best of both worlds. But these were a great deal!

I have also been getting a "clank or thud" sound from the front end, i can feel it through the floor too. Notice most when I hit speed bumps going about 15-20mph....which is probably too fast. I might recheck all the bolts and make sure the lower cam bolts were correctly tightened after alignment.

Just checked skid plate and four large bolts were loose. Glad it was something easy. I guess my buddy lossened the skid plate at some point and I didn’t realize it...rookie mistake on my part. Will report back of “racket” disappears.

    Thanks

I still have my clunk a bit. I added sway bar relocates, that seems to get rid of most of it. I still hear it once in a while. No clue what mine is.

Make sure your spare tire is pulled up tight. If you installed new leafs you likely had to lower it.

Haven’t installed my kit yet, watching this thread closely. Hoping it works out as I’m excited to get it installed, just dealing with a few other priorities before ordering the rest of my parts and installing.

I got mine narrowed to the passenger front. What it is, not a clue ha. Hopefully something will show wear so i can identify it.

That is what i have been closely looking at. After I installed the kit, i noticed some excess grease on that link. My next step is taking the swaybar off and testing that. That is the only other possible place to look. Every bolt I messed with i went back over, retorqued. So we will see. But Im thinking the endlink also.

When I had my STi, I put in bigger sway bars and aftermarket end links. Car started clunking pulling in and out of the driveway. Loosened and retightened the end links didn't fix it. I put stock end links back on and clunking went away. Sold the aftermarket end links right after. Lol

And you know, my truck may be fine without the sway-bar, since i have a 2.7, not much body roll.

What's a good way to test if my sway bar is causing the sound? Can I just disconnect it or do I take the whole bar off? I went through and tightened everything with the lift and it still makes the sound. It's just a little annoying but if I know what's making the sound it would make me feel better...and to know it's not something serious.

Can you replicate the sound by bouncing the truck? Or does the truck need to be driving to replicate what you’re hearing?

Will the sway bar drop kit fix the problem???

Finished my install last night, ride stiffer but I actually like the firm ride you get with this upgrade

No, won't make the sound unless driving. So far only notice it when going over speed bumps, makes the sound with intial compression/contact of the speed bump. Parking lot at work is filled with speed bumps so it gets a little annoying by the 12th time in day.

Not sure, I need to see if sway bar is causing it first. I guess I can try disconnecting sway bar attachment and see what happens

For those wondering what the difference bt the 4runner coil vs the Tacoma coil looks like, Toyota of DesMoines emailed me pics of the swap they did for my set that was wrong.

Big difference if you ask me. So if you have the wrong coil, get it taken care of asap. This has the potential to be a big safety issue should you install and drive around with it on.

Thanks again to Toyota of DesMoines for taking care of this. Looking forward to getting it back and starting my install!
