Depending on the wheels used, 285s will likely present the most rubbing issues. Wheel specs play a bigger factor than the majority of people on TW seem to understand. For example even my 265s still rub sometimes under compression and full lock on my heavily modified mud flaps. I choose to continue to run mud flaps as the minor rubbing is far outweighed by the benefits the mud flaps provide the other 98% of the time.

In general, 255s will be the safer route if rubbing is a concern.

B833CE2D-9CD4-4919-9A79-A4925E85B4C7.jpg Finally installed the 2nd Gen TRD Pro package today. Wife was out of town (her truck) so a little surprise for when she returns tomorrow. It is a 18 Sport with 16” OR wheels (I just like the look and size better, and not buying wheels anytime soon). 265/70/16 tires. I dont care about the change in lift. It isnt even settled yet. Put maybe ten miles on it. Love the ride. Takes a big hit easily and no more bouncing which I hated. OEMs are Hitachi shocks from Mexico?? OMG Toyota. Very happy I did this and pretty as well. Able to do myself with the instructions and Im a lightweight mechanic at best. Bought the set, new in box, off ebay for about 750, from a guy who bought in ‘17 when toyota was clearing them out. His receipt was still in the box.
Thanks for the posts guys as that is what helped me buy this setup, saving me a bunch off the Icons I was going to get. Im happy

Not sure why the 05 pix showed up but oh well

@Lt. Dangle any updates on your clunk?

I've still got a super subtle clunk, but I've given up on attributing it to my suspension unless I've got a bum upright. I've got my LCA bolts to 120 ft-lbs to rule them out, everything but the top 3 bolts checked and set at FSM specs and the top 3 are as tight as I can get them without a cheater bar, same as my sway bar endlinks.

I'm thinking it's either a function of the suspension / truck, a bum body mount or a loose screw behind the steering wheel.

    Sway bar spacer fixed mine.

I still prefer the stock OR ride though.

    Same here.

It’s softened up some after added mileage and the addition of full steel skids and sliders. But I’m still no fanboy.

I like the look of it, and like the functionality for carrying added weight, but if I ever get motivated, I probably will switch it back out to stock. Probably once I go to sell, or the shocks start rusting terribly.

Just looking for some feedback on this set with some miles/time. Still have mine sitting all pretty and new in the box.
Deciding whether it is worth the effort to install or just leave the stock Sport stuff well enough alone.
Real world use for me is far closer to mall crawler than offroad.

I like the additional stiffness of the front end. I thought my Sport wallowed in the turns. Also the additional lift looks good.

    Stock

With lift & 1.5” blocks on rear.

With OME 95R leif springs on the rear.

I thought the Sport suspension absolutely sucked (when you take off the tiny Made in Mexico Hitachi shocks, you will understand) This is a huge improvement in every area of the ride. Decent lift as well. I will add a leaf in the future as it rides slightly high in front.

I’ve got a little over 20,000 miles on my kit and I’m very happy with it. It’s firmer than the stock OR suspension for sure but I thought that was a bit soft. For under $600 shipped I can’t think of anything that beats this. When/if these die I’ll likely replace with standard 6112/5160 combo. I added 3/8 AL spacers above my front coil overs and I’m right at 2” of lift with BAMF sliders and full AL RCI skid trilogy. I did the 3-leaf AAL with U-bolt flip kit in the rear and Wheeler’s superbumps all around. I’m not a hardcore off-roader but I do beat on my truck several times a year for fun and to access bike trails. This kit works great for me. I also just ordered a swaybar relocate kit to hopefully eliminate an occasional knock I get.

Appreciate the 'real world' updates. I like the truck like it is, just trying to justify in my mind whether to go ahead and install this kit.

Am curious about a couple things. I know from your truck pic you have a topper, etc but did the 3 leaf AAL stiffen up the rear any? Mine seems a little choppy in the rear empty stock and will likely do the 3 leaf to level it out with the kit. Also, don't know if the swaybar knock is a 2016 up thing or would apply to my 2015 as well since they are so similar.

The 3-leaf didn’t effect the ride, that’s the nice thing about the progressive 3-leaf vs. a single AAL. As for the sway bar knock, I’ve heard it’s more common with any of the larger diameter coil overs, regardless of year. I got some on Amazon for $30, they are waiting at home in my mailbox. Hope to get them on later this weekend when I get home.

I definitely have heard of the knock on some aftermarket kits with higher lift, but don't really recall it on this TRD package. Did the factory install any relocate on the 2015 TRD Pro's?
Let me know how it works for you. Since those relocate kits are pretty cheap and straight-forward, I will likely just include it when installing mine rather than after the fact if it is of benefit.

Here are a couple of pics of my setup with DC Extreme Country 255/85/16 on stock OR rims. I left the O/L in when I installed the AAL though.

If you like a firmer ride throw them on. I’ve had mine for about 7k miles and honestly I miss the cushy ride of the stock OR suspension. I have hit a few dirt roads and it is crazy good but on road it can drive me a bit nuts on how firm it is. I love the look but I prefer a softer ride for daily driving even if it means going back to stock. Also I want to note I have not die. Anything to my rear so no aal so I’m not sure if that would help some

Adding an AAL of any kind, single or 3 leaf progressive, will not help to soften up the ride. It will actually make the rear more firm, especially unloaded.

That is probably what concerns me the most about putting this on. As far as I can tell, the Sport already is a little stiffer ride than the OR so I am assuming that will be about the same. I like the slight factory rake and would want to maintain that, just sitting taller. That means an AAL of some form or a full set of leafs ($$). The stock 2015 TRD Pro trucks looked a little saggy in the rear to me even if they were technically level.

Since I run unloaded and on paved roads 99% of the time I think the rear is already stiff enough empty. It really would be just a looks thing for me so I wouldn't ever really get to use the suspension package where it would really shine and would just have the slightly stiffer ride the rest of the time. Appreciate the feedback all. I think I may have a suspension kit up for sale here soon for somebody who will benefit from it.
