Just curious- out of all the TacomaWorld guys watching these Pro threads and planning to install. Let's say there's 100 of us. How many of us do you think will have a bearing problem in the first year? I'm not trolling. Genuinely curious, as I'm a newb when it comes to suspension. And I have the kit in my closet right now.

Mine has the bearing issue now after installing the Pro kit, still under warranty and going to let the dealer replace it

It is a good preventative thing to address, but by no means is it mandatory. If you're concerned, lift it and see what happens. Luckily if you need the bearing, you have time to do it since its not a show stopping problem.

Shawn for Rogue Offroad has said they have done hundreds of Tacoma lifts and have had only a very few come back and need the ECGS replacement, included his own.

How long after install did the problem become apparent? What were the "symptoms"?

Do it! I ordered this setup and then cancelled it based on feedback from Marie at Headstrong. I've seen reports of 1", 1.5" and 2" lift. I don't want to put a AAL bandaid on shitty OEM Toyota leafs. I want to put on a full aftermarket pack like Dakar, but also don't want to end up stacking spacers to get the right rake. I'd love to save the $$, but not if having to jerry rig it to get there.

It's a lot like gambling lol
Low speed you feel your truck shaking "vibes" what they call it here on the forums going 25-35mph If you go on 4hi and it goes away, needle bearing is bad

...agree...but the odds are not as bad as some make it out to be. Can't hurt to be proactive and replace, but I'd wager a lot didn't need to do it.

All the lifts I have seen in this thread on 3rd gens has been right around 1.75"-2". I have a cap, rack, and gear in my truck so it's always between 4-600#. I'd guess so the additional lift is needed so it doesn't sag. I also tow and would prefer to maintain a decent amount of rake.

It’s a $60 part that’s not too difficult to replace and you’ll be worry free of that needle bearing possibly going bad. :spending:

Right after the install of it, the symptoms are like a roaring noise ( like having a set of mud tires on the highway) at around 30-40 mph.

When I see "ECGS" and "diff bearing" in my reading about this topic... are those the same thing? Just different terminology?
