Over the past month or so my truck has developed a slight pulsating hum/vibration. I mainly feel the vibration in my feet. It is not present until 60 mph and is worst at 70-75, It goes away above 90. It still happens if i let off the gas pedal and just coast. i also rotated my tires and it didn't change anything.

    Im running 5100 @ .85 with 265/70/16 Michelin M/S 2.

Also my truck is 4x4, but I don't think it is the famous differential bearing since it only happens at highway speeds

Me too. Just between 60-75. Nowhere else. Can't figure it out.

At least I'm not alone. I can't tell if its getting worse or I just notice it more.

I also have the same problem sometimes I feel a quick jolt or a kick and once for about a half second I heard and felt something chattering. I'm replacing my ujoints and center carrier bearing next week. We'll see if this solves my problem. I got under the truck the other day and tried to wiggle all the drive shaft linkages and all seem to be solid. The carrier bearing has about 1/2" of play and I think the rubber boot it sits in may be torn a little from what I can see. Fingers crossed!

You may want to check your front wheel bearings too

Bringing this thread back from the dead...

Ive been reading around on other sites and most people that describe these exact symptoms point them to ujoints and out of balance tires. Im getting new tires and wheels soon so that will hopefully allow me to check the tire part of it, and than if that doesn't help I will look into the u joints.

So my new theory is that it may have something to do with the motor mounts.. I've noticed that if I'm traveling at the speed it is present it will go away when going around a left curve, but when I go around a right curve it gets worse. Also when flooring the truck it will do it at high rpms. Anyway I'm getting a new frame and installing a lift in the next month so we will see what happens after all that.

When front wheel bearings go out the vibration will go away while turning at higher speeds but only one direction. For example my front right bearing started going out and on the highway the vibration/hum would go away while turning to the right..

Interesting. The only reason I didn't think it was wheel bearings Was because it hasn't gotten worse in the past 5k miles and when I jack the truck up and spin the tires I don't hear it. I'll rip it apart and look into it more this weekend

Can I pull the hub off and see if they're "bad" visually?

Also try to push on the edge of the tire when jacked up. I believe is is the proper way to check. They shouldn't have any wiggle. I believe...

I took off the drivers side hub today and it was fine, all clean inside, no play or anything. So I packed it with greeae and out it back in. I didn't bother taking the passenger side off as it had the same manners as the driver side.

Gonna wait till I install my lift and see what happens. If it gets worse than I will look into the front diff needle bearing, but as of now I doubt it

Just replace both front wheel bearings. Had the same thing. No noise or grinding when in the air, replaced them and it all went away.

Did you figure it out? I have a similar noise after 45mph and gets a little worse at 60, but the noise is bearable. It’s weird because it started when I installed new brake pads. I’ve already took them out and cleaned them, I also rotated my tires and it’s still there. Not sure if rebalancing the tires will help me.

Me too! It started when I changed my UCA and lowered my front diff. I suspect might be tight UCA but don’t know.
