Didn’t have a matching spare, but bending the tabs will allow fitment according to others who opted for the 5th.

Just realized you have a short bed! I’ve heard that’s the case with the sort but not necessarily the long beds.

That’s the only thing holding me from getting the KM 3. The coopers are a lot smaller and fit no problem.

Here’s a couple more of the km3’s from some fire roads today. Coming from a 36” Toyo MT on my last truck these definitely have some different driving characteristics.

I left them at 35 psi because it was a short trip but they were only slightly firmer than the stock Goodyear’s. On the highway with strong winds the truck likes to move around more than stock. On rutted fire roads they do like to grab the ruts but overall I’m happy with them and I think those are characteristics of a skinny tire in general not just these.

My only disappointment with them is how narrow the contact patch looks compared to some of the other tires in the same size. I think in reality it’s more of a looks thing than how well they will function though. That’s my .02.

Anyone know if someone makes a 255/80/16 or 85/16 with the following?

    1) All-Terrain tire
    2) 3 Peak snowflake designation (not to be confused with M&S)
    3) C Load

    Oznaczenia%20M+S%20i%203MPSF%20-%203.jpg

My 265/75/16 Duratracs hit all those buttons, except for the size.

A few days late to your question, but, if I had to choose between those sizes I would say, it depends on which brand/tire you are going with. For example, the Toyo MT's in 255/85R16 measure in at 33.5" x 10.2" whereas the BFG KO2 in 265/75R16 measure in at 31.6" x 10.5". I would choose (and did) the 255/85R16 Toyo's in this case. You net 1.9" in height while sacrificing 0.3" in width. That's nearly an inch in ride height for giving up something smaller than your thumb nail. These variances between brands and sizes can be fairly large. The Cooper ST MAXX in 255/85R16 measures in at 32.8" x 10.2" so you would net 1.2" on tire height (0.6" of ride height) and give up the same 0.3" width as the Toyo's; a little less favorable. Mastercraft 255/85R16 measure at 33.1" x 10.4" which seems like the best of both worlds. I never did a whole lot of research into the 265/75R16 so there may be some that run large like the Toyo's do in the 255 group.

Anyone have some pics of their Taco with this size of tires on stock TRD OR rims and wheel spacers? I’m curious how they look.

Did you switch from the 265s up to the 255s or from the 255s down to the 265s? Any issues with the 255s?

I went from 265 on stock wheels to 255s, then to 265s again on SCS F5s.

I loved how much sidewall was on the 255/85/16s but swapped to the F5s because I’ve always wanted a set. Unfortunately you can’t fit skinny 33s on stock suspension and the F5s without rubbing so I opted for 265s. MPGs have returned but I think I’ll go 255s again my next opportunity.

It’s interesting with these, your cruising speed is higher at the same rpm compared to smaller tires. In the same sense, first gear feels taller and I found I didn’t wind out first as much to keep up with traffic. Overall in the city, you can expect a 3-4mpg hit from stock tires. They’re heavy and start/stop traffic kills fuel efficiency. On the highway it’s not so bad especially since you can keep the rpms lower. Corrected highway mileage doing barely the speed limit got me 22mpg on the dash but I seriously had to work for it.

Why? It’s been painless for me the last couple times. I fill it out online, pop in the invoice number, and get the rebate in the mail in less than a month.

I mean they sound like an MT. There’s no getting around the sound even with a skinny tire. They make a little less noise then the tires on my last truck but you still know they’re there. I did 5 hours of freeway driving at 75-80mph and I didn’t get annoyed. You just can’t expect them to be the stock tires.

Here’s the Toyo MT’s I’m comparing them to. These were the opposite of tall and skinny and measured out to 36x13 on an 18” rim. 79442FE7-1233-4F74-AAFC-FA7A6FB40789.jpg
