I got excited thinking they may be 16's, looking for an alternative to the super swampers, just too aggressive for my needs.

Mounted my Maxxis Bighorn 255/85/16 (33.3" Skinny) tire underneath using the spare rim, although it barely fits as its touching the exhaust mount.
I had to hammer the tabs down and move the mounting anchor forward so my rear diff didnt hit the tire

seems like this tire size is the most logical and practical upgrade one can make to a stock truck to take wheeling. I'm sold. thanks fellas.

Comparing a friends K02's to my Courser CXT's I don't have any reason to go K02. The CXT seems to be a better tire for anything where traction is a concern, and they're made by the Cooper so they're not a no-name brand.

    Edit: Fixed a word.

Can confirm the courser mastercraft CXT is a great tire. Got to see them in action a few weeks ago and am thoroughly impressed. I will probably be snatching up a set of these.

265/75/16 tires only everything else stock.
Anyone know if 255s will fit on this rim? It’s the stock sr5 rim. Currently sitting on 265/75/16 but I like the look of the 33s better .

I’ll be getting the cooper ST MAXX 255’s with my stimulus check I just received for sure. But my wife wants me to wait a few weeks for this virus thing to calm down!

I would be very surprised if it didn't run well, none of the stock rims seem to have meaningfully different width or offset numbers.

It should fit on the wheel fine. I'm running the real OPs KM2 255s on the real OPs 3rd gen OR wheels on my 2nd gen truck. :woot: @Jibbs
I think a 255 is good for about 6.5-8 or 9" wide wheels.
Well, is it "your" money, or hers?
I'm not married and if I was, vehicle needs which provide transportation to make more money, should come first. If you don't need tires, I'm playing devil's advocate and on her team.

Oh come on now. I thought all us truck guys were on the same team!??:notsure: Of course I don’t “need” new tires, truck is a 2020 and only has 5500 miles on it. But the stock tires sorta suck and I WANT new tires:D:D:D
That way when summer rolls around and the snow melts here, I can do some good wheeling without having to worry bout the shitty tires :mudding:
We split the stimulus check we received so it’s definitely my money and of course vehicle needs come first. Although I feel 95% of this entire forum has nothing to do with “vehicle needs” Mostly vehicle wants:yay:
I’m just whining cuz I can’t get tires for a few weeks

In that case, you spend it yet?! o_O:D
If I had deep-ish snow to worry about, a good MT or hybrid with fair siping would be ideal. Maxxis MT-762, KM2/3, or ST Maxx

    Courser CXT!

I'm gonna keep pimping these tires til I die, they put up with Lake Michigan lake effect, Texas spring raindust on the roads, and LBL mud like heroes. I've been calling them MT's with AT compound and siping.

I have mixed feels about Mastercraft tires. They were okayish on my Mazda3 and the only set of their tires I ever had on any vehicle. My tastes, too hard of a compound to make up for wearing too fast, or I just drove like a jackass.
Everyone I've known personally to have Mastercraft tires, AT or MT, on their trucks didn't like how they wear or had severe road noise.

I don't have a horse in that race, only what I've seen and heard about them.

255/85R16. Negatives would be that being an E rated tire, they're stiffer and louder than stock. Not massively, but noticeably. Not so bad that I need to turn the radio up by any means. At 25k miles they don't have visibly noticeable wear comparing my spare to my main 4, but they're aired properly and I can't burn rubber in them lol. If they died in 10k miles I don't know if I'd buy them again, but at this rate they should last 50k or more, and I'd buy another set at that rate.
