Totally agree! Put 600 miles on them this weekend between wheeling and pavement this weekend. Love the tires!

Had a tiny bit of rub twice when going down a steep decline and full turn. Barely noticeable, but checked anyway. Driver side rubbed on the mud flap about the size of a quarter.

    So happy I got these!

So... 255/85/16... If you mounted them on 16x7.5 wheels with a 4.25" backspace - would they likely rub on something given the truck is a stock suspension TRD Off Road?

so if my math is right, that is a 0mm offset. the stock rims are +25 i think?
I think you will be REAL close to rubbing.

that is the equivalent of a 1" spacer on the stock rims.
I know a 1.25" spacer was much too wide for me to fit.

I bet you get at least some light rubbing.

Just Thought I would post up my taco in the 255 thread here! Second Set Of This size! First was Toyo MT, now the cooper St maxx! Loving the look more of the st maxx the more they are on the truck! Been running this tire size for over 2 years. Loved it stock and even now with my minor 2" lift! Even with my new bumper the look of the "skinny" is still great IMO! Best tire size for these trucks!

The Cooper ST MAXX works great.

Ask @supralee about the noise.....he picked up my other tires and we went for a ride.

TBH we haven't noticed any issue with the tires at all.

I'm really interested in a 255/85/16 tire. What do you guys think the closest tire that preforms like my bfg k02's? I really like my current tires, they are quietish and preform well on/off road. Second, I regularly have 1000+ lbs in the back of my truck with stock suspension do you think I'm going to have clearance issues?

Did flexing and turning while off-roading make you rub anything on stock suspension?

I would say the closest tire to a ko2 in a 255 is the st maxx. I really like them, they are excellent off road and aren't noticeably louder than the stock wranglers on road. The ride is definitely a bit firmer with them as they are load range E. Nothing uncomfortable though. As for the weight in the bed, it shouldn't be an issue, ive flexed our with stock suspension and couldn't get it to rub.

Ok, I’m convinced this is the tire size I’ll be going with. What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting? Currently the average in town is around 18mpg and 21mpg on highway road trip.

I've ranged anywhere from 13mpg full load or shitty winds. To 25 mpg. My entire average for a 3000 mile journey from saskatchewan to Colorado to moab and back i did 18mpg. So its capable of good mileage alot. Way better then the wider tire will give. Less resistance makes a difference. Im now on ovtune for almost a year and its made a world difference for driving on these. So much better.

Driving no greater then 70 mph on the hwy, Ill get 20. Driving conservatively in the city, Ill get 17. Rural highways at 55-60 Ill get 22ish.

Driving 75+ mph on the hwy, Ill get 18 or less. Driving a bit more spirited in the city, Ill get 15-16.

    I typically average 19 mpg with 70/30 hwy/city mix.

Thank you for your response, that is not too bad at all. I was planning on going with 265/75R16 but after some light “wheeling” this past weekend I decided more ground clearance would be better.
