Get a tune and that gear-hunting will be nothing more than a bad memory. It will drive like a new truck!

Anyone have the Falken Wildpeak MT01 in a 255/85r16 size? These are the ones I was planning on getting and was wondering how the ride and noise was like.

I do, they make noise but don’t bother me at all. It’s a true 33inch tire and they look amazing. I haven’t had a chance to use them in snow yet but I like them. Your mpg will go down but if I drive between 50-60mpg I can still get 20 or more a gallon.I’ll buy them again.

Thanks for the info. I mainly chose the Wildpeak mt01s because the few reviews I could find on them said they were surprisingly quiet. It sure doesn't hurt that they're the least expensive off road tires in the size, at least on America's Tires' website, lol

I’ve never had mud tires so I don’t have past experiences to go off of but I think they are fine. They definitely make the truck look tougher and you don’t have to do a lift. Win-win.

    @Elkfreak7,

Great looking truck, it looks very capable, we appreciate the descriptive review and are looking forward to more information as they age and wear, like what maintenance intervals work best for you to keep wear patterns minimal.

Aside from post "https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-and-suspension.491079/page-158#post-27293947" , which isn't their truck so no info there, I haven't seen any posts on this forum with a 22+ Pro with 255/85/16 size yet.

If you google "Dominic sanchez TRD pro" and click on the Trail Tacoma website and scroll down to #7; that appears to be the same truck as the post above. It looks like they are running "Falken Wildpeak MT Tires (255/85R16)" in addition they have Westcott Shim (not sure what that is) & Deaver AAL, which I think is a rear lift via Leafs.

Anyway, 22+ Pros have thicker UCA (I forget the size but there reports of a popular (wider/taller) size tires that rub heavily on the 22+ Pros UCA that didn't on the 21 or below Pros or any other trim). That said, the 255 size is ever so slightly skinnier than stock, so I wouldn't see any issues with it rubbing on the 22+ Pro UCA.

I just picked up a beautiful set of SRS F5 Dark bronze wheels in a 16x8 with 0mm offset (18 pounds each ) and a set of Falken Wildpeak MT 255/85r16. This set up is going on my 23’ lunar rock Tacoma off-road. I will post pics as soon as I get them on, can’t wait

Looking great. You use wheel spacers?

No wheel spacers, just stock OR wheels with a decal kit. Suspension is still stock except for the "put heavy junk in the trunk to level it" mod

Now I just have to resist the urge to buy stuff until I've saved for an accutune kit :)

Looks like I've got some rubbing between the spare and the diff. My exhaust has plenty of clearance, but I'm tempted to axle dump it while I'm under there.

    20230219_115500.jpg

I think I remember seeing someone here relocating the spare chain hoist back one hole position and then drilling new holes for the rear? 20230219_115317.jpg

I had the same issue and it was pretty easy to relocate the hoist. Also pushing the tire to the rear as you crank it up helps a bit.

    Looks nice!
How’d that rim decal kit hold up and was it a pita to put on?
I was thinking of painting those areas but it’ll take forever to mask it all off.

I’m a ways from getting new rims and those tires might be next when the coopers wear out.

I've only had the decals for ~3 months, so I cant say much about longevity. I do wash my wheels with a brush/wheel cleaner/pressure washer and the decals have been just fine.

I am terrible at installing vinyl, but I eventually got them on there with a heat gun. The hard part was getting the decals to sit in the right spot to cover all of the outside corners of the OR silver pattern. The Empyre kit I bought came with 2 spare decals, and I needed both of them. In the sun you can tell there is a color difference up close, but from farther away they look great. For the price, I'm happy with them. I wanted black wheels, and this scratched that itch well enough that I could save for suspension.

Let’s see them. Curious how the 0 offset and the 255/85s work.
