Stock off-road suspension , no lift! I had to remove front mud flaps and dremel a little bit of
    plastic but they are awesome.
I’m still getting 18mpg combined city/hwy and truck rides great. I would like to lift the truck 2” in the front with a quality kit. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Truck looks great!

From pics, tires don’t look skinny at all!

I don’t know why we talk so much about how tall skinnies look. I have them, but TBQH I think they look goofy compared to 285’s or even maybe my stock 265’s. I put them on because I think they are approximately as functional as 285’s with lesser cost in terms of extra mods to make them fit. Does anyone really notice the visual difference in 7% of diameter?

Exactly, plus less rolling resistance and skinnies perform better off-road in some conditions. I can also still get advertised MPGs with my heavy ass truck.

From the side view, they definitely look
    like 33s to me.
    :notsure:

Don’t think they look goofy at all. To me they look great on 3rd gen Tacomas. 235s yes, too skinny for 3rd gens IMHO.

Maybe I just notice girth more than length.

I had pizza cutters and on the highway handling was horrible, mud terrains. My 2 cents.

    Interesting.

I noticed absolutely no difference coming from 265/70/17 C load KO2S. Currently running 255/80/17 E load wildpeaks.

It's been a bit, but I'll try to list the steps from memory.

To relocate the chain hoist for diff clearance (if required):
    1. Remove spare tire
    2. Remove Chain Hoist via 4 bolts on top (this is a pain)
    3. Align chain hoist so the FWD holes on the hoist match up with the AFT holes on the under bed bracket. (Don't install bolts yet)
    4. Mark where the AFT holes on the hoist fall so you can drill new holes in the bracket.
    5. Drill new holes with a bit larger than the bolt. (I think I used a 3/8ths bit). Confirm new hole pattern matches hoist pattern.
    6. Clean and apply some paint to the exposed steel on the holes for corrosion protection.
    7. Install chain hoist using the 2 new holes you just drilled, and the AFT two holes that were already in the bracket.
    8. Unless your tools are way fancier than mine, you won't be able to get a torque wrench in there. Torque by feel.
    9. Reinstall spare and check clearances again.

I have two trips off road with the new 255s so far, and I'm really liking them.

Ayyy das me also no issues on highway at all. Rolls 75-80 perfectly fine, notice no difference from stock tires for me anyways. Little hum but that’s all

This entire thread is full of examples of the visual difference. I'd say they fill out the wheel wells, very noticeably, and the added ~1.2" of "lift" on the truck is noticeable as well when parked next to a truck with the OEM tire size.

Would my mother notice the difference? Absolutely not. Would your average enthusiast of these trucks notice? Definitely.

    20200729_084201.jpg

    20210428_102605.jpg

35's are only 6% larger in diameter than 33's, I'd say that's a significant visual difference as well.

For what it's worth, I'm sure a large portion of people in this thread did it for the same reasons as you did, for the functional clearance without the hassle of fitting 285's, just gotta remove the OEM mudguards if equipped and get the tires mounted. The added looks are a bonus, but I'm sure some also did it for the looks alone.

The size difference is definitely noticeable, as others have pointed out.

You can easily tell which of these trucks has the 255/85's
