The Gen4 brakes don't allow for 16 inch wheels, so unless you are referring to a 17 inch version, no Gen4 Tacos will be running the AT4's in a skinny 33 size.

    @BC Hunter

I speak from experience with this: If you are using a differential locker offroad much, you will want a spare that is the same size.

(That said, I don't think it's likely you will grenade anything, but it does cause the truck to not track straight.)

So I ended up going with 265/70/17's instead of the 255/85. I plan to keep my steelies, might put some skinny tires on them in the future if I ever do a 2" level.

To be fair, that’s an “E” rating size.
Not the “C” that people were excited about in 255/85/16.

Still 58 pounds, even with the bigger centre hole.

I feel like the stoked-on-load-range-c-crowd greatly diminished after learning they are 58 pounds….personally, at that point I’d rather just have E-range out of principle

If it makes you feel any better I just put E rated Toyo AT3 265/70 on my truck. Mine is a 2.7 4 cylinder and it feels fine man! Send it!

Yep, that’s exactly how I felt. I was super excited until I heard the weight. I might as well have the toughness of an E rated sidewall at that point.

My low tread (worn out) 33 fit fine a a spare, but tight without any modifications.

Has anyone tried to put a 33 under the bed with a BAMF bumper?

(I measured today and it seems like the hitch portion of the bumper sticks forward too far to allow for a 33” tire.)

I have a BAMF rear bumper with a 285/75/16 under there. It’s tight but I don’t see anything rubbing. I did bend back the prongs a bit with a sledge hammer and hacked off the exhaust. Can snap a couple photos in the AM

You’re correct. The hitch portion does extend further, not allowing you to move tire back as far.

What rear springs are you running?

I’m on Deavers and they seem to have moved the rear axle back an inch, maybe more. If I measured correctly, I only have 32” from the pumpkin to the hitch. I can use a relocation plate under my springs to move the axle forward and gain back an inch, but at exactly 33 inches, I’m worried about the differential rubbing the spare.

It’s been raining here all day no photos.

I’m on Icons. I fully deflated my spare. I’m not sure if this will work but I may use a strap around the hitch and spare to draw it back more. Will try when weather clears up

A strap around the spare to draw it back… I like your thinking, sir!

Alright I got around to putting a strap around the spare. Worked like a charm. And I have gained about an extra inch of clearance from the diff

Will the strap stay, or is that only to get it secured?
