How long of a strap was it? Looks like nothing to spare, which is good.

I'm thinking of getting Cooper st Maxx for my stock off road manual in this size. Can anyone speak to this set up? Manual trans if that matters

I had 265/75r16 ST Maxx on my ‘16 TRDOR with the manual (56lbs per tire). I didn’t really notice a difference. If 255/85r16 specs are 59lbs, I’d say you won’t notice anything either. Having the manual puts you at the helm to decide when you need more power anyway.

Yes it’s staying there to keep pressure on it against the rear bumper. Spare is deflated as well to maximize clearance and clamping force

It’s a standard 15ft. ratchet strap. Once secured I cut the excess off

Yes. I have a set on at the moment. I have found them to loose traction on wet pavement. Both the original Goodyear Wrangler All-terrain and a subsequent BFG KM3s I have found to be better in this regard. Haven't yet decided what my next set will be.

thanks for the feedback. I was curious bc their website says OD is 33.5 inches when inflated so was wondering if there would be issues with stock everything. I’m definitely torn on what tire I want that’s for sure! I don’t do much heavy off-roading, so not sure if a MT is what I’m looking for. The ST Maxx or falken at4w look like decent options though, especially after reading many pages of this post lol

I have them as my non-winters, but also the TRD lift. Having said that, no rubbing that I am aware of, and it’s been on some very bumpy trails, so through most of the same range of motion as stock.
Have had the Toyos on a FJ (twice) and wanted the same on my Tacomas. Great in deep snow and rocky terrain and mud. Like any MT, sucks on ice and loud on the highway. Nearly bulletproof.

Edit after reading your more recent post: If you aren’t off off road a lot, an aggressive All-terrain is probably a better choice.

Yeah, I agree. I love the look of an aggressive tire but for me it's like 90% road and 10% off road so I am going to look for an AT. I really want the Wild Peak at4w but it seems it's impossible to find in this size right now since it's so new. I am hoping my OEM tires pass inspection next month so I can wait until they are back in stock.

got any good side profile photos? debating this for my next tire as I have the TRD lift kit... pretty nice that there's a way you can run 33s with a relatively simple lift.

You can run 33’s with no lift. 119k miles on third set of Yoko Geo G003 MT in the last 13 months. All stock suspension. Alaska to Buenos Aires and all parts in between

Good lord brother! 119K on g003’s in the last 13 months? Is that a typo or did you actually drive 119,000 miles on them?

That makes me want to get another set and try them in the 255’s instead of the 285’s I used to run.

Yeah looks confusing. I’m on my third set in 119k miles. I’ve had three sets of these in that time.

First set VA to Barrow to Mexico got around 52k miles. Second set Mexico to Buenos Aires I got 58k and still had 6/32 left when I replaced them.

First set was about 75/25 on to off-road. The Mexico to Buenos Aires set was about 30/70 on to off-road hence the more mileage. Also that leg was a lot slower.

Wanted new tires for trip north up the west coast of SA.

I figured it would be multiple sets, that’s just so many miles in one year that I thought it was a typo lol

That’s awesome though, so you have found them to be a reasonable option for long distance road travel with about 25% off roading mixed in?

Because that’s exactly my type of driving and I’m going to need a new set of tires before my next cross country trip (Maryland to Idaho). Did MD to Montana last year as well.

Why would people be more excited about a C rated over an E rated tire?

I'm not BC Hunter, but from what I understand people like the flex of the C Rated versus the stiffness of the E Rated tires. More side wall layers (E) are stronger but less flexible. C Rated tires generally weight less than E Rated too.

Thanks for the reply. I know C rated suck on my full size truck. It is my work truck and carries ~900 lbs of tools and equipment at all times. My Taco is used to carry tools when the Ram is broke down, like now. Don’t buy a Stelantis product. It’s carrying ~600 lbs of tools and the SL’s just don’t cut it. The tools should be back in the Ram soon. The Taco is still running the stock SL rated and I’m under impressed with them. With tires that go ~50-60K miles, I don’t want to get totes with the wrong ratings. Most of the time my Taco will not be carrying all that weight. Just a camper shell and a dirt bike once in awhile.
