lol I almost fell for the dodge ram. They are always running such great discounts off msrp and typically have the best financing rates. I feel like they can be good trucks for 60-100k miles, but after that I’ve heard they fall apart.

There’s a reason why they’re discounted with good financing rates. Mine has seen more time in the shop then all my other vehicles that I’ve owned combined.

I sure wish there was a real HD option out there that would go 200k without worry. At some point, the taco won’t be enough and I’ll need something beefier. In a truck, it looks like I’m limited to the Tundra which falls short of the load capacity of the heavier trucks. In truth though, it’ll probably be enough.

Sadly, I really like the looks of the new Chevy trucks and SUV…. I just wouldn’t bet on them for 200k.

Spot on. I had a 2013 Ram 1500. Traded it in just past 60K miles when it started to fall apart. I had maintained it flawlessly at the dealership but that didn’t help things.

I have a 2014 ram 1500. Luckily I bought the lifetime powertrain warranty when I bought mine new. I normally don’t do extended warranties, but I did this time it’s paid for itself several times over. I’m guessing that’s why they stopped selling that warranty. I dropped my ram off at the dealership for a ticking sound I thought was the warped exhaust manifolds again. It wasn’t. This time it was the lifters seizing up. So they replaced the camshaft’s, lifters, and some rocker arms. All work was approved by rams warranty before work was done. Then the dealer says there is something else wrong so it needs a new engine. That could run the cost up higher than the vehicles market value. So ram used a clause in the warranty that allows them to buy me out of the warranty. They want me to pay for work all ready done that they authorized to be performed. My attorney read through the warranty contract and agrees with me that I should not be responsible for that work. Ram is standing firm that I am responsible for the payment, not them. I will never buy another stelantis product again.

Good lord that’s a horrific situation. Much worse than what happened to me. The dealership basically gave me the “we can’t replicate your problems” BS so I immediately said “okay well if the truck is fine then I’m trading it in” and I caught them in their own lie.

Anyways, I could go on for pages but so as not to derail this thread much longer….

I’m happy about the new 255/85/16 AT4W lol, there…I mentioned something on topic.

Happy to chat more about crappy Ram stuff in my build thread if you’re so inclined!

now back to skinny tires on stock wheels!

It sucks because they are good vehicles, just not built well or built to last. I had a 2011 jeep wrangler 6spd, and in 2 years of ownership (I owned from 55,000 to 85,000miles) I replaced the heater core, AC blend actuator, upper oil pan, and the final straw was the clutch and flywheel. Mechanic tried to sell me an LQK transmission for $10k and I told them to pound sand. Traded it in and now I’m here. Stellantis just sells pigs with lipstick on em.

The only Jeeps I would consider is a 2006 or older. I miss the Jeep I had. It was my first vehicle and I regret getting rid of it.

I’m on the drivers side with my brother on the passenger side. My step dad is on the bumper. He no longer has that funky facial hair that he had in the pic.

That’s beautiful. I’d consider a JK. They aren’t terrible. But the yj and tj are definitely better. When my 02 F150 finally died at 250k, I drove my aunts 02 4.0 for a while. That thing is a solid jeep.

Finally got my Falken Wildpeak AT4W’s!! They are great, ride amazing, smooth and quiet and of course no rubbing so far!
Big shout out to Jordan @Discount Tire who went above and beyond working with a local store here in VA to get me these tires!
Going to try and plan some trail days soon and test these out off road, but super happy with them and how they look more aggressive than an AT

Thank you for the shout out. It was entirely my pleasure assisting you with your tire purchase. The Taco looks awesome with the new A/T4W. Very rugged and capable looking.

I just got these Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 in 255/85 r16, stock suspension, off-road wheels. Had a little rubbing on driver side, took of mud flaps, heat gun took care of the liner, have to trim a little still from the fender flare as it rubs just a slight when turning left and under slight compression. Plan on suspension in a month or so. Was going to put on 1.25 spidertrax spacers but when I tried on one wheel, it hit the fender flare pretty good, will wait until I get suspension and new alignment before I try again.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Got my Wildpeaks yesterday. Will need to hit some trails to see, but so far, only a minor rub coming out of a parking lot with a fairly steep apron, bounced pretty good. I have 1" spacers and expected more rubbing. I will isolate where the rub is coming from in the coming days and see what I need to do.

A shout-out to Jordan @Discount Tire for hooking me up! PM incoming.

So much tire on the 16” wheels. I love it!

how does it drive? Those wild peaks are like 58lbs a tire i think. Part of me is thinking about going 17” wheels and getting Toyo at3s because they are 50lb a tire.

The drive is great. These are load range C vs the 265/75/16 Grabber ATx's that I had previously, so the sidewall is softer and absorbs more pavement imperfections. I don't notice any slop because of the taller sidewalls so far. As for the weight...I think too many people get caught up in it. Yeah, it takes a bit more torque to get them rolling, but once you do get them rolling, inertia is your friend. The Taco's brakes are more than adequate to cover slowing them down.

I can't wait to get on the trails and air them down to see how well they work.

looks great! These will my next tires. I just need to wear out my current ones. They just have too much tread left to just get rid of them.
