So far, all the 3rd gens say they fit 255/85/16 without rub. I also heard of one 2nd gen tell me that they fit without rub.

Yeah...I'm not sure why that guy mentioned anything about the fitment in a thread clearly about 3g's. The tire info is still useful I guess

Its ok, we still love them! We wouldn't know much if it weren't for knowledge from the 2nd gen taco owners

Out of curiosity, other than easier to fit, is there a benefit to fitting tall skinny tires as opposed to tall and wide tires?

One thing I will say and there are many come, but for sure a benefit of having tires slightly passed your fender well is they will contact the object first on a trail if you slid into it. I've knocked my flares a few good times already.

I have 265/70/16 Grabbers but I'm liking the tall skinniest as well.

Nice to see another suspension choice that isn't King/Fox/Icon/etc. You'll have to let us know how you're liking the ADS. Do they make a 3g specific kit yet, or did you put on a 2nd gen kit?

That's my big holdup on diving into suspension, is unless I go OME, nobody really has 3G specific setups yet. I know King has a kit in the works. My issue is that since our factory springs give us an inch over 2nd gens already, we effectively lose that gain by putting on a 2G kit (meaning if we put on a 3" 2G kit, we'd actually only get 2" out of it)

Toytec has kits for 3gens specifically. Bilstein as well, the 5100's and 6112's have 3rd gen specific iterations I believe.

I believe this kit is technically a 2g kit. I did gain nearly 3" in the front because of the sag. Regardless with a adjustable coilover you could set the preload to your liking and I wouldn't want more than 2.5" over stock. The reason I chose ads (other than the 18% Off group buy) is they actually focus on the on road ride quality too. Since this truck spends 99% of its life on road, and I wheel more than most. Also, they are a small company with an impressive amount of their work done in house. It says proudly made in the USA in about 13 different places on these shocks:D

Thanks for all the info OP! I've been searching for a taller tire for my OR wheels for once I get my OME lift put on.

Great info. Not really a fan of the skinny tire. It it may grow on me. So 2 questions here.

    1. You think it would fit with 255/70 on 17" scs ray10s.

    2. If you can fit these skinny 33s with no lift, if you had 2" lift could you fit skinny 34-35"?

KO2s come in a 34"x10.55r17 but it's more like 33.5" tall. The few people I know running this size really like it.
They'll poke, but that also increases the chance for rubbing. The key to these tires not rubbing is the fact they're on stock wheels. Plus (IMO) skinny tires on off set wheels looks funny based on the couple times I've seen pics of that on here.

    1) 255/70/17 would almost certainly fit because thats smaller than the stock tires (per the TW tire size calculator). If you had an issue fitting those, it would be because of the wheels.

    2) If the lift got the wheel wells up high enough that the tires cleared the sides and didn't get pinched (I'm probably explaining this like an idiot- check out photos 3 and 4 in my original post, where the tires are pretty close to the plastic- thats what I'm talking about) then you should be ok. Depending on how the lift is set up, even the tiniest outward shift of the UCA might cause issues too. I'm fairly certain that as the truck sits I'm just barely clearing the UCA all the time.

The other problem is that 34s or 35s would probably get into re-gear territory, but there's plenty of other threads talking about that and I don't know shit about regears. All I know is I have 3 pedals and I can get power when I want power any time except when I'm at a complete stop :(
