Ordered cooper s/t today for my 2018. Liked the ST Maxx but they're heavier and more aggressive. Figured I'd go with the normal S/T and pick up some traction boards. Hoping for a little better gas mileage with the S/T as opposed to the S/T Maxx.

Ordered a set of ST Maxx this morning. Think I got a decent deal on 5 from Discount. Big O had 8 here in town but they were close to $350 more total and wouldn’t budge on price. For that much money I can wait.

Anyone have experience mounting 255/80r17s on FJ steelies with stock OR suspension? Would be significantly less costly to go up to a 17" rim per tire and sell the stock alloys. It looks like the FJs have a 14mm offset vs the 25mm of the stock OR alloys. This difference in offset has me thinking it may not work without the lift? I've seen others with this wheel/tire set up but with an OME lift or similar.

Was able to get my ST MAXX mounted up today. The spare fit without any modification. Just took a little finessing to get it to line up right. Love the way they look and surprised how smooth they are. Hopefully can see how they handle off-road soon.

@chipcall61 Your truck looks great. Which OME coil spring did you go with for the front 887 or 888 and what did do for the rear, also did you use OME shocks? Thanks in advance.

So those with JBA UCA, you definitely need spacers on the stock wheels to prevent rubbing on the UCA?

Or put another way, is the JBA UCA more likely to rub than the stock UCA with 255/85/16 on stock wheels?

And now, for something that absolutely does not fit on stock OR wheels/suspension...

    Like, so many.
Would 255s work with a 0 offset wheel?

^x2 I got 887 coils and want 255/85s next on 0 offset wheels. They’d obviously fit on the stock wheels with the lift but wondering how I’d work with the offset.

Yes, that was stock OR suspension. No changes at that point other than tires.

Looking for some advice on the alignment numbers I got back today I am using icon billet UCAs. They are heimed and fully adjustable.

My assumption is the UCAs need to be pulled in a bit.

    Thoughts?

Most people with a lift and aftermarket UCAs recommend front toe and camber be at 0 and caster be 2.5-3.5. The whole point of upgrading UCAs is to get higher caster. Yours is too high on camber and way way way off on caster.

Ya I went in asking for +3 caster and 0/0 toe and camber. This is “maxed out” in their attempt. This shop won’t touch the UCAs and my assumption is they are adjusted to be too far out, and if we pull them in then we can get more caster etc... I am new to the adjustable UCA game tho

That’s most likely what needs to be done. I would ask for a refund from that shop and go find one that knows what they are doing.

Well I have lifetime alignments from them so it’s free. I can adjust the UCAs myself.

I got ahead of myself. They are indeed listed on discount tire website, I called and he assured me they were indeed in the warehouse, I paid for them. He said they would be there in a couple days.

Then before I headed across the border to grab them I called to triple check and he said they were back ordered a year. :der:
