    You sly dog.

Out of curiosity, what are your guys’ local shops charging to mount and balance?

    I paid $24/tire. I've seen down to 16 locally.

You can see my posts on the 6th page of this thread from when I first installed the Dick Cepeks, I now have over 10,000 miles on them. Still love them. They've never been stuck at Rausch creek and they are awesome on the road, no complaints. They are wearing down slowly and evenly, balance well, my wife even drives it every now and then.

The ST is still a hell of a tire. I’ve run both previously, the ST and the STMaxx, and was very pleased with both. Performance wise I found them to be comparable Offroad, while the STMaxx was quiter and has better handling on road. My STMaxx did have the infamous right hand pull though.

Pretty sure the ST is being phased out.

@backcountryj is correct. The ST is discontinued. Which is a huge bummer because that is the tire I was going with as it is 8ply, only 47lbs and a true 33”.

@Professional Asian I am concerned that if I destroy one, I have no replacement to buy. Simple tire on eBay has 4 for $890 and one for $220. I planned to purchase 5, but not sure I want to own a discontinued tire with no way to replace one.

8.5 is too wide, the maximum width is 8.
You could stretch them, but that would look goofy and not be as safe off road lol.

That’s interesting, I saw somewhere that the maximum width for 255/85/16’s was 8 inches. The coopers are slightly shorter and wider, so perhaps that’s why.

For 16" rim models, you are correct. The full specs are listed on their webpage.

Yeah, 8.5" wide wheels look fine with the 255/80r17 coopers.

    Same here.
I ran 17” skinnies on my 2nd gen with an 8.5” wheel. Never had any issues aired down and didn’t look too disproportionate to me.
    2C67A9B2-52A8-422D-9BFD-B546ED813846.jpg

Debating whether I’ll go skinnies again on my next tire or if I’ll give 285s a try on the 3rd gen.
