    Hi everyone,

I saw a few posts a while ago about swapping out the qi charger in the 3rd gens for Samsung fast chargers or other brands. I personally just swapped from the S7 to an S9 and I’m getting the overheating issues again. The constant overheating can’t be good for the battery and don’t feel like shortening its life more than phone companies already will, besides I was never impressed with the charging to begin with. So I was wondering if anyone has actually gone through with it and what workarounds with voltage/ current mismatch there might be. My understanding is that the truck is 12v (obviously) and the circuit is only 1 amp but the Samsung fast chargers 5V@1A & 9V@1.67A for the various mode respectfully. I would really like to be able to dig into the console and just cut the wire for QI and solder in the guts from a Samsung fast charger. Linking the old threads and tagging one of the OPs for help/attention.

Depending on what you got to wire-up, you could disconnect the charger and use the OEM switch to power the replacement charger.

    None... yet
I’m an electrician but do not work with vehicles. Even so I’d caution against going with anything that pulls amperage over what the circuit is rated for from the factory. If you start pulling 1.67 amps on a circuit rated and fused for 1 or .5amps or something like that you’ll be blowing fuses every other day.

I would imagine the wires are rated for more than the fuse rating so there may or may not be fire safety risks and it may just need a swap to a higher fuse, idk...

Just do your research and exercise caution, you’ll never fool ohms law.

Hmm there is more to the circuity than I thought. What does that C28(B) certification ECU have to do with anything, is that just the "key fob antenna"? The device i'm looking at using is samsung wireless charger EP-NG930. I'm pretty sure it has PCB in there that provides some control of keeping it in check.

What if you found one that's thin and flat enough to just lay down in that space? Maybe just wire it in and just put it there with some Command Strips. I'll give it a go, Google Pixel charges are proprietary and expensive still. Google has a lock on the tech.

    C28 - I'm assuming it's the ECU plug maybe?
I might just be getting ahead of myself.

Where did you see this at? I need a diagram with part numbers to track down a connector for something.

C29 is for the Smart Key.

Since you are disconnecting it I wouldn't worry. My guesstimate is to inform the system it's on and maintain vehicle RPM like other systems. (120 Inverter)

It was in the diagram post of caribe. I'd really like the idea of everything looking stock(not using a thinner one to lay on top), just functioning like it should of from the beginning.

Actually the idea was just wire the black and red power to "9 & 10" but now i'm questioning that. That would include tucking the PCB underneath the coil.

And place the charger on top or under the original Qi?

Removing the orignal and placing it in the same spot. might require fabricating something to hold it in place. Trying to find the photo I saw of the original removed.
