This is straight speaker leads right into the DSP, no speakers involved here.

The rear channels have a weird curve, I didnt record it, but its very faint, and turning the volume up does zero to increase that volume.

I used this as a line-out converter. Way cheaper.

I should note I got my sub and powerpack installed professionally though.

That’s a big part of the reason I like pulling signal from the rear. It’s typically full range.

I think you miss read what Im saying, the rear channels are trash, you should never pull signal from the rear channels on these trucks.

Looks 3 printed to me. Attached the adapters that bolt from inside the door, then the speakers attach to the adapters.

    Start here, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3300846

Download these files, then you just need to make them thicker, and put a 8 inch woofer in the center. But this will give you the door side template.

    It’s a JL Audio ZR800.

1” thick HDPE, trace and cut with jig saw. Easy peasy.

After all that great input, all it really took was a good sale for me to pull the trigger. I decided to go with the refurbished JBL GX series (https://www.crutchfield.com/p_109GX9638A/JBL-GX9638AM.html?cc=01). Even refurbished, they have good reviews on Crutchfield, but what convinced me to buy is that they're an extra $20 off right now. I figured I can't go wrong paying $60 for something that is being sold for $130 over at Best Buy and still has great reviews (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/jbl-gx...e-black/6283669.p?skuId=6283669&ref=212&loc=1).

If it's too tweeter-y for me, I guess I'll try a few things like covering/taping the tweeters or look into what it takes to wire them out of service. Thanks for the lively discussion and input.

    Lots--
The highs will even out. If they are refurbished they might already be okay. I noticed mine were super high when I swapped them too.

Where is a car stereo shop these days? I haven't seen one in at least 10 years. Car manufacturers killed the business with these stereos integrated into the dash.

Eh, there's still places like Best Buy that have a ton of speakers on display that you can test out in store. But, yeah, I feel like car stereo shops are more about the professional installation and advice than about actually testing different speakers.

    Too much.
    This.

    Same here

    Yes.

    Droppin knowledge here.

My god yes, give them the power, and you could get away without a sub (but who would want to)

    That's amazeballs.

I'm going to add to the Morel phanboi pile on. The Tempo Ultra 692s are fantastic, however, if you want to spend a little less, I just put a set of Morel Maximo Ultra 502s in my son's car, and they have good sound quality as well. The 602 set is the 6-1/2" woofer driver.

Check out this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/coastierons-progression-of-idiocy-journal-bs.527020/ And learn what happens when you don't buy right the first time (there's like 50 audio posts at this point)

Hahaha, nice. I'm sure that I'll end up buying a Kicker Key in about 6 months, but then I'll think to myself... what if? What if I had even better speakers? What if I installed a sub? What if I had a nicer head unit? And then I will be forever lost down the rabbit hole that is car audio.

    Too much.
And that's where I am at now. I pulled the rears out (Morel Tempo Ultra Integras), removed the passive crossovers, am installing a DSP right now, and then am going to tune each channel individually.

Who knows what happens later. Maybe I save up for Hybrid Audio drivers.......
