my 16 OR and my 17 Pro both built in Texas. No issues, love my trucks

But I keep reading Mexico Tacoma is lower quality.

Is there any proof of this?!

    Another post today....claiming that

"before they moved production to Mexico" my truck was built almost a year before the truck in the picture and was built in Mexico? Still, no major problems on my truck so far

I didn't think there were any production differences, but I hear the "Tacoma in USA > Tacoma in Mexico" on tacomaworld thrown around all the time. Thus was curious if there were any objective measures

Toyota would have the exact same quality control checks and parts at both factories...how could there ever be a difference?

my belief is some of those people are just giving preference to what was made in their country and not their neighbors...

that being said, you would think automated machines using the same parts should be pumping out the same stuff... regardless of location of said machines and parts shelf.

idk perhaps for some who feel the texas plant is superior to the mexico plant, i was proud my taco was from texas and not mexico at first.... then I realized my taco was built in mexico and later was reading mexico plants QC was better so my opinion quickly changed into yay i have a mexican truck. at the end of the day it doesn't matter toyota is of decent quality with a half ass decent warranty so prob just fretting and splitting hairs.

    however....

if toyota is anything like subaru or bmw, everything assembled in the USA is inferior to their products assembled in japan and or germany....

at the end of the day toyota cares more about their land cruiser plants and their tacoma plants so in the end we all have inferior land cruisers IMHO

just another way of justifying it i suppose

My gen 1 is built in CA (where Tesla now built), and my Gen 3 Texas. My LS600hL and my LX570 (both Japan built), albeit much higher prices, are fantastic built quality. My 16 WRX built quality garbage. My Japanese Mazdas were garbage build quality. My Japanese Acuras were all fantastic except my TSx was horrendous build quality.

Of all my Euro cars/JDM cars, Lexus has consistently had the best build quality. My best Toyota (build quality) has been my mid 90s MR2 Turbo.

Pretty sure weather you get one from either Mexico or Texas they are probably both assembled by Mexicans.

Let’s use a fast food chain analogy. Whataburger is based and founded in Corpus Christi Texas.
The closer you are to corpus the better quality and co sister you of product. The buns are fresher, the toppings are more consistently applied. You go to San Antonio or Houston, you get good product still but some slight variations in quality control come up. You go to the whataburger in Rio Ranch New Mexico you get dissapointed even more.
The Lexus/Toyota factories closest to corporate hq are going to have tighter controls and greater pride.
The satellite factories around the world are going to depend a lot on management and systems to prevent human performance factors causing issues. Less organizational pride is a human factor to be expected the further from the organization center you get.

What this means is both the Mexico and San Antonio plant are satellite factories that have to use a systems based approach to manufacturing as the human factors and pride of ownership is less in these locations. If the systems are not strong enough, QC issues slip through. In Japan, there is a cultural constant, it would be considered rude to pass on an inferior product and the workers take it personal.

100%, toyota is hard to beat and their honorable openness to fess up on their screw ups and cough up frames upon frames imho shows they stand by their product 98% (2% always gets fecked with no lube)

however I would say now it seems it is nearly impossible to beat a porsche these days, zero issues with 100% backing of corporate... (again, top dollar)

Well Hyundai gives great warranty, but I don't want one. Having owned Euro/British sports cars always, the best warranty are the ones you don't have to use ;)
