I have successfully swapped a 2014 wheel into my 2007 DC. All buttons work except for left, right, enter and back and my buttons are not illuminated. Any ideas as to why? I am fairly certain that the 2014 buttons are supposed to be backlit when the headlights are on.

Your correct they do illuminate.I just checked on my truck as to why yours are not working I have no clue, but that 14 wheel looks so much better and feels great also.

Garmin Eco-Route HD for Bluetooth ODBII Diagnostics, 2014 Entune Plus w Navigation, Leer 100XL dome light wired to dome circuit, pop&lock tailgate and cap locks.
The illumination circuit is different. You'll need to review the wiring diagrams. I swapped out the controls on my 2013 to 2014 (2014 has additional buttons). I had to run additional wire for to the spiral cable connector below the steering column for illumination and the additional button press circuit. All those extra buttons on the 2014 won't work without doing that - and you have to have a radio that accepts all the button presses.

Also, the spiral connector on an older model may be the same and appear to have the same number of pins, but the spiral cable assembly in the steering wheel may have fewer actual connections (like 5 as opposed to 7). So it just may not work - unless you swap out your spiral cable assembly.

I have the newest spiral cable, which has the additional white connector on it. Is that the point at which I need to run additional wiring? I would love to get a tutorial of what you did, since the 2013 has the same wiring as the 2007. I should be able to do the exact same thing you did and get it working! All of the buttons that I had working on my old wheel continued to work on the new one. Channel up/down, volume up/down/ mode, hang up, answer, and voice command buttons were all plug and play. I just need to get the additional features and illumination.

LED interior lights. Steering wheel mod. New radio. Amp, speakers and sub woofer.
To illuminate the controls, you need to ground pin 9 on the S8 connector.
The arrow buttons are pin 3 on the S8 connector. Looks like you have an aftermarket radio from the picture. Can't tell you where that wire should go. Maybe look at the wire diagram for your radio.

The S8 connector is the lower black connector on the passenger side of the steering wheel column.

Just some advice to anyone else doing this, get a 2012 or 2013 wheel instead of a 2014. There is a different button layout, slightly less buttons, but they all work. I upgraded my 2005 taco to a 2012 wheel, and a new clockspring, and all buttons work and lights too. However, there is no way to bring up voice control, or siri, or whatever system you may have.

I kept my eye out for the parts on ebay, and came out only spending about 50 bucks total because i sold my existing wheel and clockspring. Patience and youll get the right wheel for a good price!

I got the wheel, airbag, and a clockspring, pretty sure that was it. Theres an awesome writeup on here somewhere that i followed and had the swap done in under an hour. Also, be sure to get OEM parts, particularly the clockspring. There are a ton of cheap chinese knockoffs but i didnt wanna mess around with an airbag, so i went OEM and im glad i did.

I will have to dig a little deeper to find that write up. My wheel is getting pretty beat up so it's kind of annoying to drive with now

I have a tacoma 2013 TRD I recently change my radio of my tacoma to a oem 2014 tacoma radio (photo attached) and also change the steering wheel controls of my 2013 to 2014 (Photo attached). The problem is almost every control work's but the option of back and left and right don't work and the steering wheel controls don't illuminate.I want to know if there is a solution for that problem. Photos or videos will be appreciated. Thanks

HI by any chance do you have any pictures or diagrams to install the extra wire or cable to make all the button works. I will appreciate any help you may provide me.
    Thanks
