i just did the Gy6 halogen bulb upgrades instead of LED pods (2 35w bulbs, so 70w total or 5.8 amps at 12v)

FYI the reverse circuit has a 10amp fuse stock.

2 stock reverse lightbulbs (17 watts i think) and 2 18w led pods is fine for being tapped in, as thats 70watts as well.

I put mine on a switch, so I'm not blinding people at the mall when I'm backing up

I want to put mine on a switch too. I would like 3 options. Always off, always on, and on with reverse lights. I may have to call in an expert

Link to the bulbs you purchased? They are exact replacements? How much brighter are they? Seems like a nice and cheap mod!

I have one 3x3 pod in my bumper. It's plenty backing up. Just spliced into reverse lights

They're fine. Plenty of light. I just put in reverse and hit the parking brake and use it to hook up trailers or what not

You can check my build. I flush mounted some Rigids. Definitely one of the best mods I did.

How tough is it to cut out the holes in the stock bumper for those? Would it be possible with either a sawzall, jigsaw (I've got metal cutting blades for both) or 4 1/2" grinder? Or some combination like starting with the grinder then finishing with a saw for better precision?

I havent done it yet but i will be using a pneumatic 3 inch cut off wheel and probably a dremal with a cut off wheel. 4 1/2 inch grinder wouldnt be as precise i dont think and a jig saw or sawzall would make a great cut. Let me know what you end up doing.
