question on lining up a timing chain mark

    97 Tacoma 2.4 ltr extra cab
    I didn’t line up the timing gear mark and the timing chain link (mark) properly after replacing the head. The piston was on #1 tdc and both cam marks on the gears were lined up before installing the timing sprocket. Also the distributer was installed back on #1 firing. Does it matter about where the chain is positioned?
