I've looked at some older threats and some YouTube videos and I think i'm leaning towards the Magnaflow with Vibrant resonator, but not 100% sold. Can anyone recommend an exhaust system with added performance but is still somewhat quiet like the stock exhaust? I just don't want loud. Thanks.

I installed the Dynomax super turbo (muffler only) a couple weeks ago and it's just a tinge louder than the stock muffler. I haven't seen the dyno results for it, but with just a muffler swap I wouldn't expect to see much in gains.

henry's muffler shop down on capital blvd in raleigh charged me like 75 bucks, but the fact that it took him like 20 minutes leads me to believe that pretty much anywhere could have done it.
lexusofnorthmiami38@gmail.com is where i got the 430 shipped after being told 498. make sure you mention tacoma world, or else you won't get shit as far as good deals go

Problem is bolded above. Unless you are wanting a high rpm bump (small bump for NA), buy strictly for the sound.

How do you like the sound? Is it much louder?

i like my trd, good tone to it. i do wish the truck was a tiny bit louder, but maybe that would be perfect for you. i don't think you're going to get any performance upgrade without some noise though

Yea I honestly think i'm leaning towards the TRD. Honestly, i'm not sure if any other exhaust would void the warranty, but I think i'd rather just have the TRD so the dealership doesn't have any ammo if something were to ever go wrong.

They don't have any ammo from bolt ons, no worries there. I feel like I've recommended Borla enough that I have to say I have zero affiliation with them lol.

After finding out the TRD exhaust is made by Bosal, I'll never go that route. You may be fine, for me though it goes back to my watercooled VW days in the 90's. Not a fan.

Thanks man. I'll look into the Borla too as I know they are very reputable. Appreciate it. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffin glue.

I don't think that upgrading the exhaust only can provide significant performance gain. There are other mods you need to do. About the sound, the Magnaflow has a nice deep sound.

You want quiet so ultimately I'd just stay away from mufflers with a straight-through design, and get a conventional muffler and a resonator.

Honestly i'm not that worried about a huge gain in HP. I just wanted to get it done while my s/c is getting installed just to be done with it. I'd be happy with just a 6-8 HP gain with little sound.

You never mentioned the supercharger. Definitely don't want the TRD exhaust then. It's still the factory pipe diameter, just a different muffler with a fancy TRD tip.

So i guess my 2015 DC PreRunner Tacoma has 2 1/2 inch pipe and you're saying I should get 3 inch pipe with res, cat, muffler and tip? Forgive me, i'm learning as I go here.

Hey man, I went out and filmed my TRD exhaust with SC. Probably should have moved the camera further away to make it better quality, but my neighbor was giving me weird looks and it's better than nothing! Hosted it on TinyPic, hope it works for you and helps you know what you're getting in to.
