Is there supposed to be a gasket or RTV on the square shifter housing (4 bolts) that houses the shifter? There's already a sort of metal plate that goes in between the housing and transmission case. Not sure if there's supposed to be something more to prevent leaks.

Two paper gaskets on either side of that metal plate.

I just use the red transaxle FIPG on it on my R150F and now my RA60F, somewhere down the road I may get a RC62F and probably just use the red FIPG again.

The red stuff has a higher resistance to the sulfurs (which should be low as the trans takes GLIV no GLV 75w90, I like Redline MT90) and other modifiers not found in engine oil that can eat the black FIPG.

Note, Black FIPG skins in 15 mins, sets in 30 mins and is serviceable at this point then fully cures in about 2 hours, the red stuff takes 24hrs to fully cure and is not serviceable during this time.

I had Toyota 1281 FIPG leftover from the bearing retainer reseal so I used it on either side of the steel plates on both the shifter and T case access port. We'll see!
