My 96 Tacoma has a factory am/fm radio in it. Radio face plate # is A51202. It has 2 cconnectors and 1 antenna lead. I want to up grade to a factory am/fm tape cd. There are several on Ebay. The upgrade units all seem to have 3 connectors going to the back of the radio,is the 3rd connector for an external amplifier? I am assuming my radio is self amplified. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Scott

Thanks for the reply. I just bought one on ebay. The radio guys say that face plate # 1614 and 1610 are self amplified. I will let you know how it works out.

What if the CD player is integrated in the radio? I have an '08 and there were 3 connectors plugged into the OEM radio. Does this run off to a connector for a changer or something?

I have whatever radio/tape player came standard for the 01, and I know one of the rear connectors can be used to plug in either the factory CD or an accessory. I have it connected to a unit that then plugs into an mp3 player and also a Sirius radio.
