Mine doesn't reboot but the radio portion is crap. It does a weird skip thing and the words to songs get repeated two and three times. The wife says it's the crappy ass country music. It actually made a Tim McGraw song better one day. If you can believe that. Thank you Toyota!

turn off the HD radio. the signal isnt strong enough in your area, so the radio is constantly switching back between the standard and HD signals. there is a slight delay when it does...

you'll also notice it goes from radio quality to CD quality sound when it gets the HD signal, and pops up the little logo on the screen.

turn it off, you'll have normal sounding music again.

Thanks. If I leave it on though my country music sounds better. Every song is a remix.

You could but if someone does it wrong or the calibration file gets messed up it can lock the radio up. Have had it happen before and those radios are not cheap.

For what it's worth, my software was all current when reboots began in premium audio plus. Dealer did a "hard reboot" and it has not rebooted in the last 24 hours. They need another update I think.

Ok. I took it to my dealer this morning and this is what they said. They didn't look at it or anything. They said they had a bunch of them like that, Toyota had replaced a bunch of them across different models, and that there was not a software update for the 2016 Tacoma yet. He said it was the phone causing it, not the radio. He said that it loads every contact and item in the phone to the radio. Be it from instagram or facebook or your contacts, wherever. It then is overloaded or whatever.

This goes back to my original thought that the thing doesn't have enough memory to handle the nav and entune. I still feel like the dealer was giving me the run around. I have emailed Toyota about it and will be calling them on Monday. I am beyond aggravated at this point.

Something that needs to be stated by everyone is whether you have Entune Premium or Plus.

I think we're onto something. After leaving the dealership last week from getting radio looked at, I re-paired my phone over Bluetooth. When I paired my phone, it tried to upload over 3000 contacts. Thousands of these were just blank with the conference call number that we use at work. I suspect that somewhere my phone is storing the conference call number as a contact every time I dial it. Here are the steps I took to fix.

    1) Downloaded an app called CleanUp Duplicates from the app store.
    2) Ran software on phone.
    3) Went from over 3500 contacts down to 800 or so.
    4) Repaired phone with truck

Knock on wood, it has not rebooted since. Will update if I run into problems.

    Thanks, Tex0322.

Thanks for sharing that app. I'm going to try it. We are supposed to get a lot of rain this week so should get a good test.

I've got whatever comes on the TRD OR. Doesn't have the better JBL speakers or whatever.

Entune comes in the SR, the SR5 and up gets the Entune Plus 6.1 " screen w/connected apps (Scout GPS).
The Sport, Offroad, and limited come with Entune Premium with 7" screen and built in GPS. Which is what you have. I think that is the radio model that is having the issues. Sadly, these are made by Panasonic which they used to be a great name in Car Audio.

In fairness, it doesn't seem to happening unless people are paired with their phones. Bluetooth software glitches are tough, especially when your supporting dozens of different phones, who's software is constantly updating.

Every single radio update seems to have a majority of Bluetooth related issues corrected.
Unfortunately it doesn't fix them all.
Even before these fancy touch screen radios, toyota has had very poor head units.

I've joked many times, "I've changed more toyota radios than I have done oil changes, and I do an oil change on every car I touch"

My problem is that this issue seems to be happening in Toyotas. I haven't heard or seen it in any other vehicle make with any of my friends or family. I don't see much on the internet about it either except Toyota.

My dealer said they had replaced a bunch of them and it doesn't fix the issue so they did nothing at all. I went ahead and emailed Toyota. They just got off the phone with me and they are escalating it to a regional manager to look into. They could just be blowing smoke up my butt but we will see.

I love this truck other than the radio problem. I think worst case scenario if they can't fix it I will just put a nice aftermarket in there.

If your radio is goofing up, try re-pairing, and note the number of contacts that synch. The system maxes out at 1500 and then tries to truncate the address book somehow.

In my personal situation, my phone was adding a contact every time I call the company conference center number. Also, our VOIP system at work rings to my cell and created a contact each time. Somehow, I had over 3500 contacts which was making the stereo go haywire I believe. My problem was from skype/ Lync, but I can see similar things happening with social media sites, etc.
