Lord. Drive home was not so bad. Definitely think I'm either hella paranoid or I can really hear other noises now. A lot smoother than before but definitely not a cure

For those wondering (I know you all have been on the edge of your seats). I finally emptied my gas tank (and I also haven't seen the CEL for a week or so) and was able to fill up again. I got premium and slowly added sea foam while filling. She rides so smooth right now, like a brand new truck. Feels stronger and it flows through the gears so nicely. I'll keep looking for the CEL but hopefully this fixed it. I think I'll be going premium only in her from now on too. Worth the extra $3 at the pump IMO...

What time are you thinking about for Thursday? I have to run up to base to do some moving stuff and won't be done until probably the afternoon.

This is a total noobie question...
How much should I expect to spend on a 75k service at the stealership? I've neglected to take it in for any sort of service since I bought the truck at 45k.
I changed my front/rear diff and x case oil at 50k. And I've had oil changes every 5k (hoping they lubed prop shaft also?). But I just started my own oil change on this past one. And I've changed engine air filter.
I've been looking at the service manual and the main thing I've kinda missed is propeller shaft lube, spark plugs, and checking torque on some things, and boot inspection.

WHY THE HELL would you go to a dealership for that ?

all of it is easy enough to do yourself for a fraction of the cost. buy a good grease gun, find every grease fitting on the truck, pump full of grease, done, plugs are easy, don't waste money on Platinum, they are not specified and they're a waste of cash in an engine that doesn't require them. NGK or DENSO ( it's likely yours has both in it ) replacing spark plugs can be done in about an hour and no major disassembly required.

you haven't really hurt the truck other than not greasing drive line regularly ( start doing this every oil change )

you could do this all in an afternoon and still have time to go for a beach cruise afterward

I don't know where exactly I need to grease under the truck. @Sandman614 if you come down here Thursday you wanna show me all the hot spots to hit?
Yeah I can do the spark plugs too.
I am just mainly concerned if there is anything I should take it in for them to check up, since it's been 25k since it's seen Toyota.

Edit: I know it was a stupid question, I was hoping you'd say I'm stupid for goin. To the dealership for that. I just don't want to neglect something and pay for it in the long run.

do you know what a grease fitting looks like ? there will be one on each U joint on the drive shaft, and one on the slip yoke ( the piece that allows the drive shaft to move forward and back when suspension cycles)

https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/greasing-entire-drive-shaft-u-joints-5-zerks-total.56976/ ( info in link specs first gen Tacoma in earlier posts, info is similar to yours but not identical)
    Driveshaft_Toyota_Tacoma_1.jpg
there are 4 fittings, one on each joint and one on slip yoke ( picture may not be exact, but similar)

unfortunately the center bearing is not grease-able

the only thing they are going to "check up" is that they made sure your wallet has a sizable scorch mark in it. The likelihood that an actual "tech" sees your truck is slim, and that whoever might actually do the work does the work may be suspect as well.

    the stories, there are many

okay so I've never seen a grease fitting. but a simple google search shows me its basically like a nipple that the grease gun fitting connects to, and i shoot the grease into each fitting until all the old grease is pushed out.

I just went under the truck. This is what I'm looking for? I found a total of 3 on the driveline.
