Is there any warranty for the mounting brackets?
I have noticed a couple days after installing a rattle like it was hitting the roof. Went and looked at it today and there is a crack in the bracket.

Yes I'll warranty a mount defect as long as there is no sign of abuse. Send me a PM with your info and a couple more pics

I am having the same problem. I started to notice the rattle last week. I saw the previous posts and sure enough, checked the brackets and there is a crack. Passenger side is worse. Driver is just starting. I've had the 42" radius bar up there for only about 2 months. Definitely not abused. I really like these brackets and the light bar. I'm pretty bummed because I'm taking the truck on vacation at the end of this week and we will be listening to the rattle the entire time.

I'll have to keep an eye on mine. I know my light bar sways back and forth rapidly with these mounts while doing freeway speeds. Curious if over time the stress leads to these pictures shown.

You guys should check my mounting solution. Mine is Rock steady with no vibes...

If mine does crack as you gents brackets have...I'll just have a local shop/friend make me some based on the same design and possibly exclude the holes they have as that might be the weak point in the design. I think they used some sort of pressure plate to mash the holes through causing fatigue in the metal...and it doesn't help due to the fact that it had to be bent to shape afterwards...

The brackets were less than optimally setup for the light bars based on the bend design. My brackets were extremely wide and had to be pressed inward towards the light bar to make the contact point for the bolt. Over stressing metal to get fitment form can cause stresses in the metal, hence the cracking as well.. The designer should have better tolerances due to the fact that they were specifically made for the Tacoma, so there is no excuse for bad design. I'm not slamming Relentless, but it's a obvious observation that adjustments had to me made to get them on properly.

Squint, can you post a pic of your setup? Thanks!

Eric, thanks for taking care of this under warranty. Relentless customer service is top notch. I hope this is an isolated issue. Any suggestions to prevent future cracking are appreciated.

I receved a couple people with the same(literally nearly identical) crack in the mount, isolated to the 42" 05+ bracket. No others affected. It appears to me to be a couple things causing it, so as it has been brought to my attention the cracked ones will be warrantied as long as there is no sign of abuse (like it has been hit by something) and we will come up with a remedied bracket with slightly different design to make sure everyone in the future gets a solid trouble free bracket as we intended.
The brackets are all cracking right at the dimple flared hole nearest the mounting tab, which I placed there to stiffen the bracket. What I see is that while it stiffens the bracket there is a little bit too little material between the flared hole and mount tab and after(what I assume) a few thousand miles of wind buffering the light down the free way it shakes the bracket a bit causing the stress crack. Ironically if there were no dimpled hole there I doubt it would be an issue, however the bracket would be weaker... just more flexible.

Updated 42" 05+ brackets to come and will be a free upgrade to anyone that has the warranty defect as discussed.

Just looked at mine and sure enough, cracked in the same spot. Let me know when you have the new brackets ready

    Thanks for the update :)
I would also let everyone know who has a crack to either brace their bar in the middle or remove it. I removed mine and have now noticed it scratched heck out of my roof.

ouch, no good Michael. Maybe put a tad more torque on the rear bolts to keep it off the roof. We're finishing a reinforced 42" mount batch right now and we'll toss you a replacement set just as soon as they're finished. Sorry about any inconvenience this has put you in.
