So I ran the ECT button two weekends ago when I was doing some hilly forest roads. When I hit pavement I switched the button off.
I've used the ECT only a handful of times, mainly in roads in the foothills of the Sierras.

This weekend I made a 160 mile roundtrip. I got 14.1 mpg. Even with 33's, 4.88's, a 1,000 lbs over stock of armor, steel wheels and tires, I constantly get 18.5-19 hwy. I'm also getting a slow-down-pull, like letting off the gas pedal while going 35 in 2nd gear.

When I filled up and noticed the shitty mpg I engaged the ECT and even thou it was a three miles drive home it seemed the pulling was gone. And my mpg went up a little.

Anyone have any ideas of wth?

But I did read thru a few of the ECT threads, I'll keep it engaged for the next tank.

Maybe my ECT when all basakwards tard on me, like your guy's who run it 24/7? ;)

My theory on why you might get better mpg with ect is because you can accelerate faster and therefore get to cruising speed faster where you will see the best mpg's. When you are accelerating the mpg is terrible no matter how slow you go, so if you can get to crushing speed faster the better. That doesn't mean going wot to get to crushing speed... but you get my point.

All the ECT does is raise the shift points of the transmission. Higher shift points means worse MPG.

Did they just switch to winter blended fuel? You'll lose 10% for ethanol.

That's what I was thinking. But it's going to be 82/54 today...

18.5 to 14.1 is pretty drastic, and I never got 14.1 before.
