Around 7pm mom and I take the stang out just to fill it with gas. It was just over 1/8th full on the trip to the station. Well the light RIGHT infront of the station, the car runs out of gas lol. FML! I was scared shitless, this is the first time ive been in this kind of situation. I run across Rt. 3 to get gas in a can, fill the car 1/4th and try to start it.. the battery dies trying to turn over! So here we are sitting here blocking traffic and everyone knows the car and I. Well i called a cop, he tried to jump it but nothing worked, lit some flares and said he'd be back in 15 minutes.. well eventually the flares die and the cop is nowhere to be seen lol. Finally a tow truck comes and tows us to the house and jumps the car.. cars good now. Taking the battery to advance tomorrow to charge it and make sure its good. Im SO glad its over with.. i was so scared. Next time my dad takes the stang out and doesnt return if with gas we're gunna have a chat! Lol.

That's odd. If the low gas light turned on right at the station, and yet it died, you sure it ran out of gas? Should still have had plenty of gas in the tank .. most cars have at least a couple gallons reserve.

Did you reset the fuel pump switch? My '01 Mustang had a switch in the trunk that tripped if you ran out of gas (or changed your fuel filter) and you had to pull some carpet out of the way to get to it.

Wait - just noticed you have a 72...doubt it has anything resembling a safety feature. :)

Well its a 72.. so im sure the gauges arent 100% accurate. It ran out of gas right at the light, and after i filled it a bit i most likely flooded the carb.. its my first carb'd car and im perfecting my skill lol. but after it flooded the battery acted as if it were dead.

Happened to my buddy and me (his car) at the left turn light in one of the business parts of Saskatoon where all the hottest girls lived. We got out and pushed it through the intersection to the snickers and laughter of everyone passing by.
