Ok guys I hope I put this in the right thread. This weekend, I attended an event called Rock on the Range in Columbus Ohio. On the third day of the event, I entered the parking lot area and decided to park in a grass section of the lot. Well it turned out to be a bad idea as I ran over a sharp object that used to be a sign and it had been cut but not removed from the ground. I'm not sure if it was a lot marker at one point or a speed limit sign but it punctured my front passenger side tire. Should the stadium pay for my replacement tire? A cop witnessed what happened and took my information and got an incident number and report. I called the station when I got home (Dayton Ohio) and they told me to go through my insurance and give them the incident number. I don't want to go through my insurance. Should I call guest services at the stadium and tell them what happened and that they're liable and owe me a tire? I have witnesses and pictures of what happened as well.

if they indicated that was an acceptable and recommended place to park, they owe you a tire.

    unreasonable hazard.

Did you sign any paperwork for the event?

No... is that bad??? The cops didn't give me any paperwork even though I requested to file a report. They were "too busy" directing traffic... I don't want to go all the way back up to Columbus just to go to their office for paperwork.

Not really sure if it's a good or bad thing.

    Was just curious.

Some events have you sign paperwork stating they aren't liable for your person or property.

Anyways, still sucks about your tire.

they can fax it to you

cops report time and date, and the event time and date, is enough
to =prove you were there. they owe you a tire

At least it's a full size spare so I have some time to replace the flat one. I'm going to call the customer service at the stadium at lunch and kindly explain what happened. I'll ask them to reimburse me for the tire and remain calm about it. If they refuse for some reason I'll get the name of who I'm speaking with and politely let them know they'll receive a letter from my lawyer. That's my plan at the moment.

I don't think that you can get a new tire from the Event people, because you decided to park in an area not designated by them as a lot to park in. therefore taking your own chances at what might happen to the vehicle while parking in the area.

It's a designated parking area... It has a sign up with a letter to indicate parking in that row/area. People were parking there all weekend.

If that's case I would politely try to get them to buy a new tire

I hope so. After spending a bunch of money at an all weekend event I'm sure the cost of one tire will not set them back...

People throw out "lawyer" all the time. Over a tire?

Hope after you pay the lawyer, it makes it worthwhile.

Yes being polite and respectful will always get you further. I'm really hoping I get someone on the phone that says oh wow we're so sorry to hear it and will gladly reimburse you although I doubt that'll happen.
