So I was trying to engage 4lo and I heard a clicking noise. Now I can move the range selector without the slightest effort. It still switches ranges just fine, but doesn’t lock into place.

Sound like the switch stop/lock is broken?
Did you press in on the switch when going to 4Lo?

Yes I did, I’m thinking I turned it too much or something. Since it works I’m just gonna keep my eye out for a replacement switch and just be conscious of it until then.

Good deal. Some people don’t know you need to punch the button in.
    Even though it says it.

I’d do just as you, look for a replacement.
If you want, you could take the switch apart.
Shown here how to get it apart - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-gen-2-illuminated-4wd-switch.3681/
