    I'm praying I don't have any either.

So much salt on these roads in Ohio. Wish they would just use sand and maybe elephant poo.

Out here in Washington they use sand so I'm not to concerned about it. But to get back on to topic it seems that the Tacoma is going to pull out the win:D

I agree. Although the Ranger is a great truck too. Tacoma is better obviously. I own one. But you so often see "{brand that I own}, is the best {other brand} is total crap and it the worst POS ever made."

my buddy has a handmedown 2001 ranger 2wd 5 speed single cab. I have NEVER driven a worse 5 speed in my life! Then my other friend got a 2002 ranger 2wd 5 speed single cab in a devorce settlement... I wanted to drive it to see if maybe that one truck was messed up.. but no, they both are terrible! My 1953 M38A1 jeep has a nicer 3 speed stick than that piece of crap! Needless to say, they both sold those trucks.

    Shit, I loved the '84 4-speed 4-banger Ranger I had back in the mid-nineties.

Love my Taco more, though. :D

If i had a buck for every Ranger i have seen that was rusted to $#!t and should have been bought back, that and the $16,000+ i got from Toyota for my 2000 would have left me ashtray change away from sealing the deal (as in PIF) on my 09' 4x4 4DR TRD.

My ex-girlfriend drives a Ford Ranger. She is a slut now. I don't know if there is a connection, but both are true statements.

I seriously looked at both the Ranger and Tacoma before buying. The Ranger looks like a truck and drives like a truck. The Tacoma is a more refined product with a better ride. While the 4.0 4x4 Ranger was quite a blast to drive...being smaller it was very nimble...the Tacoma won out on all points except price and in the end the resale value of the Tacoma blows the doors off the Ranger.

Both are good trucks but the Tacoma is easily the superior product! Besides I've read that Ford is discontinuing the Ranger in 2010 or 2011, maybe when it's replacement is available that'll be worth a look...until then TACOMA!

The 4.0 is a strong engine. I would put it against my 4.0 Tacoma.

Does the Ranger even count as a truck?

My friend has a '95 4.slow and it gets about 12mpg and makes probably 100hp at the wheels. He hates it and always asks me to drive to save on gas and enjoy my cabin that is not falling apart and has all the interior lights working.

I came up with this thought on the way to work today. Everyone who buys a Canyon (Colorado), Dakota, Ranger or even Frontier wishes they got the cream of the crop - the Tacoma. There is no argument that could win for the first 3 and the Nissan is just tryint to immitate and has some contention but no competition.

Really? He likes to ride in your truck that is 13 years newer? That's odd.

i had the 4.0 and fx4 l2 ranger. I thought it was a great truck. the trans was way better than the tacoma trans imo. it was smaller and very easy to drive and park. it went 16.0 in the quarter mile for a comparison of power. I really like my tacoma too. i had several cars inbetween so i cant really do a great comparison between the 2. ranger was obviously smaller, but they are both pretty base in features and dont offer a lot in that department.

lot of ground clearance with the fx package. got a lot of compliments all the time for it being stock.
