Interested in the consensus of which provides the softest ride.....defined as which transmits the pavement irregularities and bumps less to the driver and passenger.

My TRD Street was pretty soft before the lift.

    Easy -- the TRD OR.

It is designed to take harsh bumps and rough roads. The Sport suspension is stiff and bouncy but supposedly better for on-street performance (cornering/maneuvering, etc). SR5 is about the same as the Sport IMO as I've driven all three. TRD OR has the best ride IMO. TRD Sport is harsher, bouncy and stiff. Go test drive both, hit some potholes or speed bumps. You'll be able to validate and verify very easily.

SR5 and SR both have standard/stock suspension which I felt was pretty bad honestly. Soft but not in a good way.

Off-Road is also soft but felt better to me on test drives.

Sport suspension is stiff, more like a SUV.

I have a 2016 TRD DC 4x4 Sport w/6 speed manual. The ride is a bit stiff but I do almost all my driving on pavement and love the way it handles. With the manual, it's almost like driving a sports car. I imagine the suspension will soften a bit with time.

I've been pretty surprised with how comfortable the off road suspension is.
The sports I test drove were harsh.

I always considered the Sport pretty much a glorified SR5, the Off Road has a softer suspension and more tire sidewall and best ride. Not listed is the Limited, I honestly don't even think I have ever seen 1 let alone how it rides.

I think the Limited has the largest wheels too so it probably rides lousy.

Probably rides OK for the road. Doubt many people buy limited to offroad it

My TRD OR 4x4 DCSB 6MT rides like a Cadillac that I'm holding off on putting my wheels on till I can decide which lift to put on that wont change it to much. I'm not going big just 265/70/17 KO2 17x9 -12. Can anyone with 3gen 5100's set at 4th notch tell me how the ride is?

I have the limited and it drives nicely. The Michelin tires are quiet. Suspension is pretty good for road use.

Thanks to all who replied. I agree with the consensus. I did test ride a TRD in Sport and Off-Road trim, and agree that the OR is a bit more gentle to my 70 yr old bones. My wife agrees. We did not test the SR or SR5, but I suspected they would be similar if not worse, ride softness wise, to the Street. So, the OR is now at the top of or Tacoma list. I rode a Colorado the following day, and the ride was "gentler" than the TRD OR, but I like everything else about the Tacoma as of now.

Thank you to all who replied to my survey; it's always nice to see others see things the way I do!;)

The Limited is bouncy. Mine gets off-road use when I go to the ranch or gun range, which is pretty regularly. The roads here are also not he greatest since its rural and undeveloped. It could be better for the price tag.

Owned both a OR and TRD sport. OR is softer.
