    Raptor lights. That’s it, don’t laugh... :)
For Xmas I received a set of raptor style lights for my 2020 TRD Pro. I got the lights installed and wiring ran to ground and into the fuse box. It seems most people hook the power line up to either the left or right headlight low beam fuse. 10 amp down in front left of the fuse box. Circled red in the image. This works however, if you use your high beams or turn your headlights off, the raptor lights turn off. Plus, I can’t use the driving lights from the headlight because Of the sequential turn signals.

So my solution was to test other fuses for switched power. It seems there is a 10 amp fuse labeled EFI NO.3 circles in blue that is ignition controlled. With the raptor lights pugged into there, they stay on no matter what the headlights are set to, and are on whenever the truck is running.

Does anyone see any problems with running the lights from this fuse?
    Thanks!4E010670-37A2-4090-A152-2312FE6ED218.jpg

I would absolutely NOT use the EFI fuses. Those power the EFI Main relay, which in turn powers the fuel pump, ignition switch, and starter relay. In some cars they power the ECM computer. If that fuse blows, you're truck is dead in the water.

Maybe I should have mentioned, it’s connecting to the fuse box with an adapter that came with the lights set. You replace the fuse with the adapter that then has two fuses. One for the original circuit, and one for the new lights. So they are on separate circuits, but pulling from the same “switched” power slot in the fuse box.

    looks like this.

I still wouldn’t mess with the EFI/ECU stuff.

I used to have mine run through the ignition fuse (whichever that is). They were always on when the truck was on, had absolutely no problem with it. Just switched to have them ok with the low beams now.

So would that be a better fuse to use?

All others are either always "HOT" or have other "effects" (like pump test after all off, leading to turning ON any circuit tied into it) EFI No.3 does that...

I just got these myself - my question is, how did you run the wire into the fuse box? Did you drill a hole for the wire? I apologize if this is a stupid question...

No, don’t drill a hole. I watched a you tube video that shows how to remove one of the wire harnesses that comes into the box. I fed the wire through that existing opening, then replaced the existing wire harness.

I can’t remember the video though.

The 2020 head lights have driving lights that turn into Amber sequential turn signals. So if I wire them to the driving lights, when I put my turn signal on, the raptor lights will turn off.

There’s a thread on here somewhere about those lights interfering with the DRL and actually burning them out. I’d be careful on the wiring.

would the power outlet fuse be good for the raptor lights to be on when truck is on and off when truck is off key out of the ignition. I don’t wanna mess with fuel pump or ignition fuses. My 2 gen doesn’t have INJ so I think power outlet fuse would be good right?

    Sure.
But on the 2nd Gen you have a fused ign source in the engine bay fuse/relay box.

well I could put it on the power outlet fuse if my wires were long enough. But what would you recommend to put the add a fuse in for the raptor lights? ETCS 10 amp fuse would be good? I’ve heard it works the same as INJ.(2 gen doesn’t have INJ fuse) Which means it shouldn’t turn on randomly when off if I put it ETCS fuse. Apparently it’s the multi port fuel injectors fuse.

IGN tap from under/inside the engine fuse box

I’m thinking on connecting the add a fuse to the ETCS 10 amp. Do you know if that also does those self pump test when vehicle turned off?
