Moog based joints, either SPC or JBA.

Uniballs and Deltas are just unnecessary, more maintenance and they squeak.

I got my SPC for <$400 new and will likely outlast those Icons.

There's a potential King racing shock group buy going on, if you wanted to go a different route. I'd also recommend a less pricey UCA.

The brown truck should be dropping mine off today! Looking forward to getting them installed this weekend. And it's suppose to be above freezing so bonus.

@11Bguy can weigh in on the JBA UCAs for you. Lots of people run them and you’ll save a ton of money.

I also agree with the icon rxt leaf suggestion, they weren’t available when I got my HD Dakar’s, although mine do not squeak (knock on wood)

Whatever c/o you decide, a 650lb spring weight will be a good idea. I’ve got no experience with 8112’s but they look amazing.

I’d look into ADS/KING as well if you’re looking for a plush ride - ADS is standard with 650lb and KING gives you the option when you place your order.

Here’s a link to a potential king group buy if you want on the list for pricing....

Have you compared those shock and coil over extended lengths to stock?

    Stock front extended - 22.17
    Stock rear extended - 22.94

So you sit 2+ inches taller which means with these lengths you have little down-travel up front. Out back you could def get more than what you will with that shock you’re looking at.

You could run some mid travel fronts and find a nice matching longer rear shock in the 26 inch range and have better performance off-road.

The 8112/8100 is meant to be a great DD and a crazy desert runner. Look how bilstein advertised them on YouTube. 500 mile drive through the desert and dirt roads to SEMA and jumping it.

I know most here talk about travel length as people wanna have the most articulation to rock crawl, but this setup isn’t really meant for that, there is no extended length option. I didn’t see the OP say he was gonna go to Moab and see what his truck is made out of, just hunting, fishing, camping, and heading out to the lake is all I saw. I see really no reason for a longer shock setup here.

Most of the extended/mid travel coilovers aren't much longer than 22.5", fully extended. The travel is usually gained by maintaining that ~22.5" extended length and reducing the compressed length.

The 6112s aren't listed in this thread but they are also ~22.5" extended.

Intesting... the way I see things with travel is I want down travel, which is what gave my jeeps the ability to drive circles around my Tacoma off road. I had a look at the numbers in that thread and it seems like a marketing gimmick to me if I get no extra travel. I was alway under the impression that there was some extra droop available with mid travel coil overs.

You're getting more up travel, which, without a front swaybar, will net you more "flex". Unfortunately, you're still going to be limited by a mostly factory geometry IFS system. The next step up from the 22.625" Kings listed in that thread involves true, long travel shocks and replacing everything (including the UCA/LCA).

well i might have learned a little something here, thank you. i'm familiar with the way long travel setups are put together on a general level as I have never done it myself. this mid travel thing now saddens me as i hoped it was a way to squeeze a little down travel out of our front ends.

so OP, disregard my ideas for the front, but for the rear I still say look for a longer shock to let your springs be the limiting factor, not a 24 inch shock.

Also, are the UCAs going to interfere with my SEMA TRD Pro 4Runner wheels and 285 tires? What's the backspacing? Would I have to run a spacer?

I think the SEMA wheels are 4.5” backspacing?

I’m literally considering your same setup based on your comment. I was originally going to go with the 6112/5160 but now I want to do the 6112/8100. Was it easy to get the height right ? What notch and coils you running on the 6112’s ?

6112 install was done by a shop, 8100 was done by me. I could have done it myself but it was cheap to get it done with an alignment. I was at 5/4 which gave the 1.5” but the bumper made be sag a bit. So right now I’m at 6/5 setting which gave my a little over 2” with 650 eibach coils. One day I’ll get the 8112 but right now I’m satisfied.
