Consider the 'skinny tire' method. 255s in full 33". No suspension mods. If you use the right OE wheel. Couple of jumbo threads on it around here.

Not saying your weight doesn't require suspension changes, just that lift may not be as needed as you are thinking.

Dakars would be fine with the 8100’s. Those are amazing shocks

You would likely want to get aftermarket bump stops. I run the Durobumps with my Dakars and they are perfect

What I might do is run the 8100 kit at stock height. Then do UCAs, Dakar rear leafs, and tires later down the road.

Because the stock ones (possibly) won’t stop the shock from fully collapsing if you go off a big bump or drop off which could cause shock damage.

I went with the 4.25” rear durobumps and they make contact with the frame when my shocks are about 1.125” from being fully collapsed

How do you perform that calculation? Obviously the shock collapsed and extended dimensions are available. But how do you find the leaf spring droop/compressed dimension?

Thinking a leveling kit, like the Pro couldn't hurt

I just went with the recommendation from Durobumps. Dakars = 4.25” bumps with extended length shocks.

When the rear shocks are in the truck and resting on a flat surface you measure the distance between the frame and the point of the stock bumpstop.

Then, measure how much shock shaft is showing.

The distance from the stock bump to the frame should be 1” less than the amount of shock shaft showing

I did this before buying the bumps and 4.25” Durobumps was ideal

The second gen of the 5160s has an extra 1/2” of travel. Will the Dakar’s still droop more than the 2nd gen 5160s can travel with the extra 1/2”?

I took your advice and purchased the 6112s for the front and the extended 5100s for the rear from @HeadStrong Off-Road. Marie was super-helpful and answered all of my questions and priced the kit several different ways.

I also went with HD full Dakar leafs, SPC upper control arms, and full OME install kit.

I wanted to grab the 6112s while they were still available. And this will be a good entry-level lift until I can make the jump to the 8100 series Bilsteins.

Probably more than enough for your needs. Solid choice. If that HD leaf pack ends up being too stiff like mine was just take out the 3rd leaf from the top of the stack (3rd leaf down), that will make them a medium pack and 200-400lbs in the bed will still ride fine for trips.

After you get everything on and drive it for at least 500-1000 miles for break in, please post your impressions.
