    If I am understanding correctly the internals of different year valve bodies might be different? My truck is a 12 I have a spare 07 transmission. If I do the mod on the 07 VB and just replace the 12 will it work even if the internals might be different?

    It should work. When you swap them, check to see if the valve bodies match in terms of shape and check ball locations. I believe they will.

    I'm really interested in doing this...but wouldn't attempt it on my own.

    @mightytacoman you did the RatioTek kit? Does anybody know if the IPT kit is the same thing?

    I'd be interested in finding a low mileage trans and sending it off to them to be built, then swapping that in myself. Keep my low mileage '15 as a backup.

    This trans shifts extremely slow. I've experienced some hang before going into 5th as others have as well.

    Sitting in the box in my garage. It’s not happening. Going with the Australian valve body referenced before. Much more money, but I think you get what you pay for. Talked to the distributor and got info on what they do to the valve body. I was sold.

    Did you get the HD ratiotek kit? What all do they do to the nomad valve body? My transmission has gotten where it’s not shifting as fast or firm anymore, thinking the ratiotek would be fine for my bone stock tacoma.

    Regular Ratiotek.

    Wholesale Automatics started out as a general-purpose transmission shop and went into the manufacturing business because they wanted better results at a price point than could be had by simply installing some springs and whatnot. Development of the Nomad line of HD valve bodies over the last 25 years was the result of that need. The WAT product is redesigned and re-engineered so when it is manufactured in the WAT valve body shop, they use a mix of remanufactured OEM housing, together with in-house manufactured plates, springs, solenoids, etc. When it is complete the VB is then dyno tested to ensure function as designed, with pressure readings under various conditions - gears and torque converter pressures. I figure it will go well with my supercharged setup since I’m about to drop a couple more pulley sizes, add headers and hi-flow cats.

    From what I've read, the ratiotek kit is just a shift kit that will only improve shifting and addresses nothing else. The IPT VB job replaces some of the aluminum sleeves that are prone to premature wear and it includes the shift kit. $30 for a shift kit from ratiotek is a heck of a deal to improve shifting but it won't improve longevity like IPT or some of the other options.

    Y'all know that the 4.7L V8 (Toyota 2Uz-FE from Tundra, Sequoia & 4Runner) uses the same automatic transmission that's in our Tacos?

    If the trans can handle the much higher torque from the V8 then why are y'all worried about it just behind the V6?

    Maybe some of you but even the supercharged V6 doesn't get the V8 torque values unless it's seen some serious tuning...
    And the V8 also used to have an optional TRD supercharger or you can get the URD belt turbo kit and really blow the doors off any V6

    Dunno for sure, but I bet there were tranny upgrades needed for a sc 4.7. My turbo at 4 psi is enough to upset my tranny 7.5 psi is gonna really piss it off

    @12TRDTacoma has been running the ratiotek without issue for what 40K in miles so far? I'm at about 12k on my setup with it. It does address wear issues by limiting slip. It does not address internal wear inside the valve body. Any of the wear parts can be replaced with transgo parts. Still cheaper than IPT.

    How serious is the internal wear on the vb? After how many miles does it become a problem? I know we are boosted so it’s under my stressed but my work truck has the same trans/4.0 and it’s close to 353k and still shifting good *knocks on wood*

    I can't give you a mile number where they might go bad. Too many Variables. My truck has 170k+ no issues after the Ratiotek install. Supercharger installed around 130k with the 2.825 pulley installed at the same time.
