when installing my sidesteps on my new 2016 Tacoma, I got too aggressive with my impact and spun one of the anchors. All of the 5 other anchors are nice and tight with no issues.
Any ideas how to remove the one bolt that the anchor spins with? Will a well nut work in place of the factory anchor if I get the anchor removed?
I didn't attempt to loosen the tight bolt yet and see if the anchor insert will fall out.

Can you post a picture of the area you are talking about?

Did you strip one of the welded nuts that are on the frame?

Yeah the welded nut. The bolt isn't cross threaded. When I over torqued it the nut insert spun in its mount.

JB weld and let it dry for 24 hours. If that doesn't work, the best way will be to have it spot welded.

The nut insert spun on its mount?? The only ones I have seen are welded to the frame. Any pictures?? Maybe it is a different spot.

It is hard to say what to do without a visual.

If it is one of the nuts that are inside the frame members and you can't access that position you are going to need to do a modification to that hole. I hope not...

If you can access it easily enough to JB weld it, please don't cheap out on it. Definitely go with the spot welded option.

This anchor point is on the BODY. It is one of the 6 anchor points that support side steps.
