I was also considering those under the hood repellers... I have not read that they will affect dogs? I have a small dog myself, should I not consider this as an option?

Try fluid filming the underside, no critter problems after I sprayed my vehicles.

Any Lowe’s store, I buy it by the can off the shelf. You can get a spray wand and big bulk kit on Amazon.

Dogs and cats run when they hear loud ultrasonic noises made by dog scaring devices - I think the operating frequency of these might do the same but I have not tested them yet- I used to be a wildlife biologist and have bat detectors I can use to check the frequency of these rodent repellers, if it is high enough dogs won’t be able to hear them either. Check this link by this Sunday- I will post results by then.

Have fun, I wouldn't go near that truck knowing one of those suckers was living in there.

It’s got to be on the outside.

I have seen a web anywhere but near the wheels.

Needless to say it’s got to go. I’ll probably spray my truck this weekend with Home defense bug spray.

Goodluck. Apparently they only attack in "self-defense" I think trying to evict it from its home would count as such haha. The North East has blessed me with not having to deal with such buggers.

Happens in our high Colorado mountains too. Marmots and porcupines chew up wires for many different vehicles, not just hungry for Tacos. Nothing like having your truck stuck at a trailhead at 12,000'. People will put mothballs under their vehicle, or surround it with chicken wire, while hiking the high country. I've never seen it happen, but lots of stories at 14ers.com

Edit: found my answer- it’s not supposed to work in defrost mode but didn’t come on at all this morning. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/air-circulation-button-help.63770/

So, anyone know where the wire harness is that may have been damaged for this to happen- I may have a lose connection or something like that caused by chewing :(

Old msg: Ok, so maybe I did get chewed after all- my air recycle button all of the sudden didn’t light up, but now works- question - can someone check to see if their air recirculate button lights up when using the air/fan/defrost settings as shown on the above photo?

Is it paint or clear coat? What parts do you spray with it, all the wires? Please post a pic of where you’ve used it on your Taco.

Great! So now we have to worry about damn rats eating our trucks. I guess it wasn't enough having to worry about our frames rusting out from beneath us. :bananadead:

It is rust protection that I get sprayed every year, but I can buy a spray can and do the wires that the guy missed during application and I use for touch-ups during the year..! Rust Check will work also...!! Krown, etc... just not tasty stuff..!!

I just spray the exposed wire harnesses under the hood, as the Corrosion Free guy gets all of the wires, etc under the truck.

It's just the taste.... they do not like to eat shitty tasting Dino Oil-based products..!

Mostly the meeses get under the hood for warmth and darkness....... That's where I spray all my wires..!!

I Just took this pic of my neighbour's Dodge Van..... He is away from home..... Looks like the meeses were replaying the Grey Cup there yesterday..!! hehe....

I just put 2 traps in his van before they mess it up...!

We are so spoiled here on the west coast, rust protection spray? What’s that?

I was mainly wondering if it will paint the engine wires solid black or brown like paint would, or is it clear?

Funny pic of the mouse tracks!

I guess it wasn’t so funny on one April fools day when I cut up some wires and put the pieces under my friends truck and poured water on the dirt ground under it as well. He had a cow thinking the rabbits had chewed up his wires and hoses. Now I’m afraid of that really happening to me!

Rats and car wiring are a problem as old as cars this is nothing new. The new soy-based wires seem to be more attractive to rodents but there's PLENTY of stories of it happening in the 70s/80s/90s etc.... Anyone in the car business knows this well it happens ALL the time and always has. You have insurance... use it. Don't try to be a victim looking to someone to blame.... shit happens just fix it and move on.

This isn't a Toyota problem this is a CAR PROBLEM. Everyone uses soy based wiring now Toyota, BMW, Chevy, Hyundai, Porsche, VW etc etc etc. And again even before soy based wiring rats ALWAYS loved cars.

Hmm, owned numerous camping cars since the 70’s and this was the first time for me. But you are right, it has probably happened ever since plastic and rubber car parts were invented.
