They are attracted to the wire insulation mostly. It is now made with soy which attracts rodents. Rats and mice both hate two things: bounce dryer sheets and irish spring soap. Place sheets in safe places all around your engine bay or shave some irish spring into some bags and place them around. and i didnt read through the other posts so sorry if its been mentioned. I live in the country and i had to replace my spark plug wires every year because those fuckin bastards. Not anymore. They even stay outta my jeep which is full of shit and has been sitting for 4 years. Good luck!

Fluid film is rust protection but it is a clear, yellowish substance. No paint, everything will still be the same color, just greasy looking. It won’t wipe away very easily either.

Just one of those things that's hit or miss. Out of the 20+ vehicles I've owned I NEVER had a windshield crack on me, not a single one. But working at a dealership I see people crack windows left and right... totally normal. So common most insurance providers even cover it with a $0-$50 deductible. I'm not doing anything differently than anyone else just dumb luck.

And watch just for saying that I bet I'll crack my windshield on the way home tonight lol

Cracked my Gen 1 windshield twice, and severely pitted it after the second replacement. Now mice, what’s next?

I'm never buying another Toyota until they get this window cracking problem solved!! They also should be educating the mice in the repercussions of eating Toyota vehicles (upset tummy).

My cracks were rock strikes from gravel trucks, construction sites I worked at. The pitting was from a Santa Ana wind day hitting the desert freeway I was on- I don’t think it was a design fault.

I agree, didn’t see that though... forgot to bring my reading glasses. You called it as it was as per the problem of blaming Toyota for that stuff, but at least DeLorean had a solution for preventing Cow Licking Incidents by making unpainted stainless cars, too bad Toyota makes such incredible edible trucks! :)

As my wife put it - they were trying to do a good thing switching to soy based insulation but too bad they didn’t anticipate all affects for doing it.

I have resigned myself to just having to keep putting hot sauce on my Taco to keep the mice away when we are out camping.

Let's not forget porcupines. They like to eat the salt off the wires in the northern states. Happened to a friend once while camping.

My old truck had a rats nest inside near the head unit. I was having phantom electrical issues. At one point my car shut off on the freeway. The alternator died on me from something draining the power. Sure enough, the rats were munching on the soy based plastic. I bought a live trap and caught about 10 huge rats by where I park my car. :) No more issues.

Any chance you could take some pics or describe what looms or areas that the dealer wrapped?

I did check how mine did this morning as I don't drive my truck everyday but had to go do laundry this morning. I remembered you asking this but after just now looking for your post for 15 minutes I see you have your answer. I found something out I did not know or I guess I never tried it. The a/c will blow thru the defroster. Learn something new everyday! I'm going to try running my a/c like that next spring. I also noticed I never smelled the cow manure stank this morning when I ran my a/c thru my defrost.

Still can't solve my constant growling sputtering sound coming from under drivers side . Seems to be coming on drivers side down low near motor ? Seen plenty of threads on it but no solutions yet!?

I have mentioned this before on another thread . Rust proofing ( Krown ) keeps mice away from vehicles and wiring as they not like the taste of it. I had mice problems on my other Toys until I had the Krown treatment and the problems with mice disappeared. It works
