I've been searching for a rattle from the rear of the truck for a month and tonight I finally found the issue. The spare tire was loose. Do they normally work loose? I got two tightening turns out of it. It's snug now! Took it for a test drive and no more rattle. Has anyone else on here had this issue?

Thanks for bringing that up--I've got a rattle and was thinking maybe it was the Tailgate Step. I'm going to check my tire tomorrow and see if it's loose.

Sometimes the spare tire chain bangs around and makes noise too.

I zip tied mine up in the tire. I didn't care how the chain just hangs there. The tire is what I heard though. I just zip tied the chain after I determined it was the spare tire that was loose.

Same thing happened to me, I had to lower the spare, spin the tire until the chain was unkinked and put it back up. No noise.
