Truck looks nasty! I have had my lift on my 2010, and now my 2012. (Icon 3" with rear (3) pack add leafs, 285/75/17, wheel spacers, stock rims)Has like 110k miles on it. Icons leaking a little. Time for a new setup. Lol my question is do you need new rims on the RCD lift? If not are she'll spacers necessary? Every aftermarket rim I have purchased in the past has been less than satisfying on the longevity. I like the stock rims anyhow.

You'll have no problem with recon and safety. Just get the alignment done, then recon and safety can be done anywhere once you pass recon. Make sure tires are under the fender flares. If not, then temporarily install those ugly extend-a-fender ones then take them off after safety check.

Not trying to take anything away from RCD but how to they compare to the BDS kit? I'm working with a local dealer in my area and they carry the BDS kit. Since they understand this kit and they claim it comes with a warranty I wanted to go this route. Just not sure if the RCD kit is significantly better. Other than the steering struts it seems to be the same kit.

freedomriding, I saw the video on youtube after searching for 6" lifts and your truck sold me on the 4.5 kits. Great rig!

The one difference between the bds / zone and the rcd is the basic kit uses a spacer on top of your factory strut assy to make up the difference from the drop bracket. On the rcd kit they don't use the spacer but give you a longer bilstein shock to use with your factory coil and top hat. With that said you can however buy the longer bilstein shocks and use them on bds, zone, pro comp etc db lifts. The bds and zone kits which are basically the same do have a lil bit heavier duty crossmembers and spindle assys versus the rcd. The rcd is a great kit and not taking anything away from it at all.

Thanks! This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. The person at the local shop I was working with had no idea. I told him I could ask you all on here and find out in a few hours. I was right. I think I will end up going with the BDS kit only because they warranty there products. I'll see how smooth the ride is with the spacers and if it's to stiff I'll buy the longer bilstein shocks.

    Thanks again.

Also wondering what kind of mpg's everyone is getting? Right now I'm on 285's on a 3" kit but I'd potentially like to step up to a 4.5" RCD kit with 305's. I'm getting 15-17ish mpg's right now and that's where I'd love to stay if I could.

I average 16 - 17, mostly city running 315/70R17. I use a GPS to get correct mileage for calculation.
