RCD club, how many are in?

Okay guys! Could you please help me out on a question?? I did the rear portion of the lift last night and everything seems perfect with only one issue.

There is a drop bracket for the rear parking brake line on the front mount pictured but what am I supposed to do with the rear one that attaches to the leaf spring? I couldn't find any answers in the instructions.

That's what I was thinking, it doesn't look like it could come close enough to the tire. Just weird that they make no mention of it. Everything else so far has gone really smooth. Anything I should watch out for on the front?

 

I scratched my head on that too. After attaching the included drop bracket, I wiggled the brake cable around and it didn't make contact with anything, so I just cut the hanging bracket off.

I take it you haven't started the front yet? That's the fun part!

 

haha no, not yet... thought about it but decided I would rather be up late tonight than last night. Any tips or advice? It just looks like a lot of parts but pretty straight forward.

 

It's fairly straightforward. The instructions don't go over every detail though. They assume you know what you are doing, but the instructions are pretty good overall.

It's a time consuming install. It took me about 10 hours to do the front and about an hour to do the rear.

Make sure you have spring compressors, a full set of drill bits up to 1/2", a 12mm allen socket or wrench, a 36mm socket, and a puller for the tie rods and hubs.

The only issue I had was trying to figure out the orientation of the lateral compression struts. They are angled and the instructions stated that angle should go inward. It didn't say inward toward the front or the back of the truck. I'm still not sure I installed them right. At least that's an easy fix though. Although I'm not even sure it matters much.

I'm going to be installing my kit next weekend, so I'm curious to the answer as well about the compression struts angle.

 

Did you do any custom shim when you went to the Alcans?
I noticed the RCD blocks have a tapper to them. Was just wondering if you added anything, or did you just bolt the Alcans in.

 

It's been a while since I started this thread, yet alone posted in it. As far as the questions that some have asked on the performance of the kit, let me just say this. I recently sold my beloved 09 as seen in my signature. I replaced it with a 2012 4x4 DC. This kit does so well that I just ordered another one from Down South Motorsports. Only difference this time is I will be using Total Chaos UCA's instead of Light racing. Wheels and tires are already here which are 17x9 XD Spy with 33-12.5-17 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ. Tracking has kit to arrive this Thursday so I'll have to wait two weeks to install as we are going to Atlantis with my son for spring break. This kit rocks and I have never had a problem out of my previous kit at all.

 

I still have mine on my 2008… no issues

Looks really great.{ the '09} I want to lift my '14 Tacoma Dbl cab 4x4 like that. RCD stands for? And the step bars are probably necessary, I have paid for them, and am taking the truck back to have them installed, any negative to them? You really feel this current lift is equal to stock ride? Thanks ! I like the newer one too....

 

RCD, Race Car Dynamics I believe. Once I put the kit on the first time the ride was better than stock with the larger wheels and tires, and better suspension. You cant go wrong on this kit.

 

Why are you going with TC instead of LR? I just installed my LR arms today. I had TC on my old truck.

 

Glad to hear you both are so happy with the lift. Puts my mind even more at ease over my choice of this lift. To me it seemed a to be better planned out by RCD than procomp or fabtec. Those kits seemed to have more cutting and welding of other parts plus theirs required an 18" rim.

I will be installing mine this weekend with a buddy at his service garage.
I have read and prepped so much I can no longer wait lol. I have poured over every thread I could find on the lift in an attempt to be ready for any problem that might come up. I even bought new seals and LCA bushing & cam bolts just In the event we need any of it on Sat. There is an auto parts right next store should we need any common parts.

 

I run LR UCA and I've had no issues other than them looking stock, lol

No payments are nice! But boy would i love a brand new truck every 5 or 6 years. Maybe when i hit the MegaBucks.
