to me 4.10 and 4.30 is a waste of time and money on an auto. 4.56 or 4.88 are good for 33" or 35" tires - nothing less IMHO

So regearing for me is out of the option? I'm running a 2 1/2" lift with 275/85/16 All_terrains and I get a or 11-14 mpg's. I am running a 6 speed manual. I Have an intake, headers, exhaust, so the power is great but the mileage sucks. Any ideas?

Are you calculating your milage accurately, by taking into account the larger tires? Only option is re gear/.

    Loud as hell URD exhaust!
I think the combination of 34" tires and loss of low end torque from your headers and exhaust is what's killing your mpg's.

I'm sure it takes a lot of gas to get that heavy rotational mass going with stock gears.

My recommendation would be 4.88's for city driving & offroading and 4.56's for more highway use.

Guys, how much would it cost (roughly) to go to 4.88's?
I have a 2012 dc lb on 33's with dtlt's, urd intake, maf cal, urd y-pipe pipe, and my truck feels VERY sluggish until about 2k-2.5k.
Can anyone advise, recommend a shop, a brand, etc?

Yes. I've been running nitro setup from ECGS for a Fe years now. It's a good time to think about a locker if you don't have one yet.

With the specs I listed before, should I be looking at the 4.56 or the 4.88? I do a fair share of city/highway driving.

    If you have an auto...

If you are going to stay with 33's I would recommend 4.56. I did that and loved it. Now that I have 35 I wish I went 4.88.

So my advise would be to future proof it :)

I believe so. I just calculate how much mileage I went from full to nearly empty and divide it by 18. I think I'm doing it right.

I hardly do any offroading! So the best gears for me would be 4.56's?

After reading this thread, I'll throw in my 2 cents. My 11 was supercharged, with stock gearing and 33s, mpg suffered and there were no gains in hp unless going past 3k rpms. My 12 is geared and locked (4.56s / ARB) and the gain is pretty significant from 1200 rpms through the band and the cost is about half of what the SC costs. Mpg still suffers with 33s whichever way you go.

I'm an auto with 33's and 4.88's and I love it! I wish 5.29's was an option for when I go to a bigger tire but it isn't...

4.88's are a lot of gear for 33's though.

I'm not really looking for any HP gains but hoping to get better mileage. Don't think I'll throw a locker in there, maybe a limited slip, but if regearing itself is pricey, might just leave it at that. Will I be wasting my money if I just want mileage gains?

Yes! Not only will the mileage gains be really small, but they will likely never makeup for the cost of the new gears.
